This is one of the export only radios I am looking
into for you. As with most of these, it will need to be converted from ham
only to CB and ham. It will probably just need a jumper, however it will
be recommended that it gets a peak and alignment tune up when it is done.
Then all you have to do is stay off the ham frequencies [masked]) and you
will have tons of semi private channels to choose from.
With all of these radios it is
also recommended that the stock mic is replaced with a (real) professional
noise canceling mic.
I choose this as one option (so far) as it
does not have garbage like echo and talk back installed in it. It
also does not have sideband. That can be a plus or minus depending on if
your group of users is technical enough to be able to tune in
other users (it is not real hard). If you decide you want sideband (I have
it) let me know. It is a little more, but it might be better to have it and not
need it than to need it and not have it (like with a gun).
When it is done it will have 240 + channels
(note the A B C D E F dial) 40 channels per each band (AM[CB] &FM
The ** "+" ** is for the secret channels that are hidden in-between certain channels
that are not always accessible to standard radios.
When you get which ever model you decide on I
will give you all the information on all the hidden channel locations
within these radios. One example FYI is between channels 3
& 4. the frequency counter on channel will read[masked] the
frequency counter on channel 4 will read 27.005. Since there is 10kc
channel spacing between all the frequencies you will see that
3 = [masked]
3a = [masked] is missing when the
dial goes from channel 3 to channel 4
4 = 27005
There is a 10kc switch on the front panel of these
radios. Turn the switch on when the radio is on channel 3, and you will
observe the frequency counter jump to the hidden channel (nice).
Any way I am still looking, there are tons of these
to go through to weed out the undesirables.\
Remember it will be radio + mod + tune up + noise
canceling mic + antenna for each complete unit when you are all set
up. You might also want a high amp power supply or solar panel
battery back up, set up for a base station operation.
Call me and we can go over the features. The
exporter is sending me a new catalog that should be in the mail to me on
Monday. *Note there are tons of these radios out there and many users
are currently using these in the US.
