"Easy Riders" SouthSide Leisure Cycle is a social meetup bringing together a group of people, young or not so young, interested in leisure and exercise cycling, and a coffee meetup. Currently this is a weekly cycle outing.
We are South Dublin based, and cycle outings are on Sundays 10.00 am - 12.45 p.m. approximately, including the optional break out social meetup for coffee about 3/4 through the cycle.
Some outings take in the coast, others inland with some manageable hills, but always with a break the other side !
The group is about cycling, exercise, but also fun.
Unlike the very old motor bike movie "Easy Rider" from which the name comes from, there's no drugs required, no EPO or anything else to influence your cycling power. Coffee is the only stimulant we recommend on the outing.
The cycle will be 20 - 25 KM, in a group. You would need a decent bike, an ok level of fitness and a very keen sense of road safety. IMPORTANT; You take part at your own risk (you recognise this if you join), but we will cycle mainly where cycle lanes are present (safety first) or off busy road stretches as much as we can.
If you are interested in taking part on these meetups (no costs apart from your own coffee or food purchase) the details are here. We currently leave from the Old Montrose Hotel (now closed - becoming a new UCD student accommodation building). There is still a large banner across it at July 2014). A MAP link is http://bit.ly/1hljNRi - this location is opposite University College Dublin (UCD), but on the Stillorgan road (N11). We do (approx) 80 Mins of cycling, with breaks at traffic lights and water breaks.
We will leave at 10.10 a.m., so please call[masked] - 71-07 if you will be a little late, so we can decide if you can catch up or we wait a few more minutes.
You may want to just come along without signing up here on the meetup website, to check the cycle out. However, please DO consider registering for specific meetups, so that you will receive timely alerts on changes or reschedules (prior to travelling to the cycle), if the weather (wind / rain) forces a last minute cancellation. We will email before 9 a.m. on the Sunday, if any change to the schedule.
Also, if you have the meetup APP on a smartphone, I think you would be able to get alerts straight to your phone.
Look forward to meeting you, and please feel free to share about this meetup with your friends - the link is http://www.meetup.com/Southside-Leisure-Cycle
We also have a facebook page (not used much, but if it helps you to share about this meetup - gr8) at the link http://www.facebook.com/pages/Easy-Riders-a-Southside-Cycling-Group-Dublin/156922654497906
All the best and hope to see you soon, at a group outing.
