Denver Botanic Garden - evening light

Summer hours begin at the Denver Botanic Gardens, giving us the opportunity to capture beautiful spring images in the evening light.  Golden hour starts at 7:27 pm, with sunset at 8:06.

There will be no formal instruction or theme for this Meetup - simply a chance to get out and exercise our photographic skills.

It was nice, but not as colorful as normal because of the late winter we had. Always good photo opts!

My goal was to photography no flowers. Always good to see such a great bunch of people. I always learn something. Just remember when photographing things that the door is the easy way in. Sometimes try the window.

Such a great time, as always and with some wonderful people! Catherine is always a good leader and started us all off on the right path with her words of wisdom. No matter how you look at it, you can't beat this group of people.

Anyone willing to share a macro lens during this meetup? I have a Nikon D3200 and can't remember the mount type since I don't have my camera with me at the moment.

You don't have to be a member. You can also pay to go in. Being a member just allows you to go whenerver and as often all year at the cost of membership. Beginning in June, there are lots of great flowers and inserts to do macro...

I'm a new member to the Denver Botanic Gardens...looking forward to spending some time there this next year. I have a question about the Chattfield location. Is there a better time of year/day (AM vs. PM) to visit there? I've lived across the highway from it for a decade and have never been! Shameful, I know!

Have to back out as I am not a DBG member

    May 6, 2013

    • Catherine

Hi Susan, you do not have to be a DBG member to enjoy their extended Summer hours daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily (Last admission at 8 p.m.)

Correction, $55 for a single membership and $65 for a plus one membership, meaning you can bring another with you on every visit. Here is the link if any are interested:

Team there IS the option of JOINING THE DBG !!! It is only $50 a year for a single and $65 for a Plus One membership. If you go to the gardens more than 3-4 times in a year, it more than pays for itself.

  • Catherine

Starting May 12 through Oct. 1, 2013 DBG is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily (Last admission at 8 p.m.). This is right off their website. It doesn't say that you have to be a member to enjoy their extended hours. http://www.botanicgardens.org/

Don't change your RSVP yet. I called Denver Botanical, and they said you can pay at the entrance, no membership necessary. I think the e-mail was intended for the morning group.

    May 6, 2013

  • Betsy

I have two free passes that expire the end of May so if anyone wants them, let me know. Catherine-do you know if we can we use the passes on the members only mornings?
