Let's fight the cold with warm friends and a little Spanglish!

At Spanglish, we practice conversation in Spanish and English in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, with occasional activities around learning the language. So whether you're a seasoned polyglot or just starting to speak out, you can always find a friend to practice with. And of course, earn extra karma points by offering to switch languages and practice your own!

And there is no cost to join us! We only ask you to support us having a meal or beverage at our venues - no outside food or drinks, please.This helps keep our meetup open and free, no strings attached. Isn't that how all new friendships should begin?

So, just come ready with your friendliness and enthusiasm! See you Saturday!

The Central is our cozy place in the Annex area, steps from Bathurst subway station. We'll be on the first floor.

    What a fun day! Great to meet so many others who are learning as well as me! Thanks to Kimb for all your help and guidance and to everyone else for keeping it light and fun.

    I had a great time today! Very interesting conversations and warm, friendly people. Once again, I did not end up leaving until well past the time I had promised myself I would. See you all next week!!!!

    Is there any other non spanish speakers? I only know a few words here and there but want to use this as a platform to learn/practice as I progress, but it seems like a lot of people are pretty fluent.

    Shay, is true, many people are quite fluent in this team. However, if you are a beginner, all you have to do is to tell anyone that you are in earlier stage of the language and we all will help you with that. Don't be shy, ask people for help. I would also recommend that if you are a beginner, make sure you have a plan of what you want to get from the meeting. For example, if you want to know how to say "this" or "that", then go for it. You could make a group of beginners and then you can find a fluent one willing to drive you to the language. Hope to see you there.

    I would suggest this for all non-Spanish speakers: if you have any specific question about the language (words meaning, how to say something, etc), bring it to the meeting and ask for any native Spanish speaker for answers. We'll be glad to answer any question you guys might have. Hope to meet more people next Saturday. Here is a word someone asked me for the Spanish one:

    "slang" = argot, jerga.

    Hasta luego.

      Interesting--"argot" is also French for a specific type of slang.
