Just a note to let you know that we are just days away from our first Meetup on Monday May 19th. Exciting!
The plan for our first meeting is to start with introductions and a short discussion of what our expectations are for the group. I'd also like to get an idea of how often you would like to meet, time of day, day of the week, etc.
After the start up details are taken care of, the plan is to move into some "speed meet ups" where we spend 5 min. in pairs or small groups starting with the topic of where we drove from to get to the Meetup. This way we will have an opportunity to meet most people who are attending. After that, we will just be enjoying the free flow of conversation.
We are very fortunate to have some native Spanish speakers who are members of our group and who are interested in practicing their second language just as we who are native English speakers are wanting to practice Spanish. So, please keep that in mind so that if you have been speaking Spanish for a while you might want to ask the other person if they would like to practice English.
I am looking forward to Monday May 19th and to meeting you all. I think that this will be a brilliant way to practice our languages, to explore the culture, and to enjoy meeting new people. Also, some have asked if we can stay longer than the scheduled time and the answer is "Yes" we will stay as long as people would like.
Meet local Spanish language and culture lovers for conversation and fun! Come to a Spanish Language Meetup and make new amigos as you practice speaking, discover new phrases, and finally figure out verb conjugations! All ages and levels welcome.
We are a group who like to get together to chat in Spanish and English. We just like to chat! The purpose is to improve our language skills--Spanish and English. The time is divided so that both native speakers of Spanish and English will have an opportunity to enhance their language skills as well as meet new people who have similar interests. We meet in a casual setting to hang out and hablar en espanol and English. Hope you can join us! Hasta entonces. P.S. Our thanks goes out to Rafer for his permission to share his picture with you.
