Every year, we go to this fest and every year someone tells me how they feel safe. This TJ fest has become a group favorite for the few who have been willing to join in. Will you be one of them this year?
The chile en nogada is a dish made especially for August & September. The green stuffed chile is covered with white nogada* sauce, then finished off with red granada* seeds.
*Nogal = walnut tree. Nogada is walnut sauce, the result of a very complicated process, usually taking a couple of days at home!
*Granada = pomegranate. So, yes, the awesome city in Spain that you're thinking of right now is named for the fruit of fertility! Join us for a short day trip. You'll meet other members of the group, see another side of the world (just half an hour away), and we'll celebrate this "national independence dish" together!
Note: the dish is about $10 and drinks are extra. To beat the border traffic, we'll leave TJ at about 2pm.
For Mapquest: Old Town Trolley Station is at 4005 Taylor St., San Diego, CA 92110.
