Hola!
We are a group of Spanish speakers who like to get together to chat en español. We are a member-driven group with everyone pitching in to organize, greet new members and socialize. Here are some monthly events you can expect:

RACHEL'S REGULAR MEGA MEETUP: Every second Monday of the month you can expect a regular meetup organized by Rachel at Rosa Mexicano in downtown SF. This meetup is large (usually 90-100 people and often a waiting list). These lively meetups mean meeting lots of people and tons chatting in Spanish while sipping drinks and chowing down on the town's best guacamole. People hang around any where from 1-3 hours.

LA HORA FELIZ: This is a popular monthly meetup meeting on any given Friday at Baobab Cafe in the Mission. People come to celebrate the end of the work week, mingle in Spanish in an upbeat, 'party' atmosphere. Members hang around any where from 2-4 hours and some have been know to head off for some eats after at another nearby location.

Caminamos y Hablamos en Español: Here is a great Meetup if you like the outdoors and prefer a more mellow atmosphere to practice your Spanish in. This meetup generally meets 10am the first Sunday of the month in Tennessee Valley for a leisurely walk while chatting in Spanish. Around 10-20 members usually join in.

WEEKEND DAY MEETUPS: (note this section needs a new leader, if you would like to help out write the organizer) On selected Saturdays you have a chance to sit down and practice Spanish in a smaller group setting in a cafe. These meetups offer the perfect atmosphere to practice Spanish and sip coffee or even a glass of wine depending on the venue.

RULES OF MINGLING: Once more than 15 people arrive at any given meetup, mingling is out of the organizer's control and is in your hands. This means if you are already mingling and see a new member, please greet him or her and invite them into your chatting circle. If you are the person arriving, remember everyone else, like you arrived alone. If it is your first time coming, I highly recommend arriving on time before people get locked into their social circles. If you arrive later it may appear more intimidating, but trust me super easy if you just walk up to anyone, you will see how friendly our members are.

WHAT SPANISH LEVEL TO EXPECT: Native speakers of Spanish are common in the group as well as intermediate to advanced speakers. There is a  lesser percentage of beginners, or those with limited conversational abilities. That said, ALL levels are welcome. If you are still struggling with conversing, just do the best you can, everyone is very patient.

WHAT ATMOSPHERE TO EXPECT: Lively, social, fun! If you are sensitive to noise, you should choose one of the mellower meetups (outlined above). If you prefer mingling with a variety of people, choose a livelier meetup where you are on your feet and moving around.

PREFER A DIFFERENT STYLE OF MEETUP, location or meeting time? Just let the organizer know and she can make you an Event Organizer and you may put on meetups where and when you like.
