San Diego Sailing

I am still waiting for paypal payment from anyone wanting to come before I reserve a boat.  The club no longer has a Catalina 36 in the fleet.  I will reserve a Catalina 320 once i get a few more confirmations and upgrade to the Catalina 350 if we can get a total of 9 on board.  Email me at jephotog at homail.com if you have any questions.

Although it was extreme weather for San Diego, temps less than 60, winds greater than 10 and a few sprinkles we had 6 show up for a nice day outside the bay. At one point the wind picked up to 20 knots. We rolled up the jib a bit, cracked off the wind and got the boat moving a bit. The one bolt of lightning in our vicinity was convincing enough for us to head back into the bay and call it a day. Along the way we did a reach with the Point Loma in the background for some photo ops. We arrived back at the dock just as the rain hit hard.

Cool, thank you for the update, Jordan! I'm really happy for you and everyone things went so well. If not returning from Catalina's Two Harbors again, shoot, I"d like to check out sailing Point Loma, again, maybe we can work up to a larger boat! Heck, I'll even mention it it Cpt. Voyle, and, if, he comes along, would be an awesome teaching experience, for all of us! Great photos on a real nice boat, too! WAY TO GO, BRO!! :)

So far we have 7 onboard so I have reserved a Catalina 320 at Sunroad Marina on Harbor Island. Drive like you are going to the SD airport but don't turn right into the airport but make the next left after the rental car area. Look for the Harbor Island signs, then left at the water. The weather forecast is improving for Sunday but it will likely be in the 60s with some rain and 14 knots of breeze, with 20% chance of rain.

I would suggest a fleece top and rain jacket at the minimum to stay comfortable and white soled shoes Lets meet at 1045 at the marina for a 1100 departure

I have 7 guaranteed now and will reserve the Catalina 320. If two more want to come we can take out the Catalina 350. It's Cinco de Mayo, lets sail out the Bay and into Mexican Waters.

How about catamarans? Training with Cpt. Voyle on a Lagoon 38' for a weekend in Catalina, very special voyage, thinking about Friday, May 10th, retiring Sunday, EARLY Am to get the boat back in 2 days, this is awesome.

Hopefully, you'll get some serious sailors, Jordan. $50 is nothing to spend for a day sail on a nice boat! It'll happen, takes a bit of time, maybe.

Good news and bad news. I have some others interested from outside the club so am cutting off reservations here as to not overextend the boats capacity. People may cancel so if you are interested in going please add yourself to the waiting list and send me an email I will try to get as many on board as possible. More bad news my company no longer has a Catalina 36 but will let me take out the Beneteau 37. This is a sleek, fast and even has that new boat smell still so really this is awesome news and should be a phenomenal experience on a beautiful boat.

No experience is needed. Last time i took out a boat i was the only sailor onboard and it worked out nicely. I have Mark and one other sailor coming so we should be good to go. You will get to learn and participate in handling the boat though.

We should take out a 42 footer before too long! Cpt. Voyle says a Catalina 42 is a fave sailboat of his, so it MUST be nice! Cheers!

The pay ins't great, but the, congratulations, your promotion to Event Organizer comes with a certain degree of responsibility to maintain professionalism, integrity, cleanness, neatness, social etiquette, proper attire...just kidding, you won't even get a Meetup salary increase....but your fun should be enhanced, cheers!

Is this for overnight, Jordan? that way, we'll make it to the the Gaslamp Ditstrict for some crazy fun partying (gotta check the Shout Out dueling piano bar, then, we could make it over to Old Town for some more fun, including a Ghost Hunt at or near the Whaley House, the most haunted house in America and in one of trippiest & haunted sections of anywhere in the USA you will ever see! Let's go Sailing, Partying & hopefully, latert, we'll even have a Paranormal Event, or two we'll experience, only for the non-faint of heart, folks ;)...this would be fun as a consideration for your event!

GEEZ, $55/pp, that's CHEAP...if I'm doing this, anybody that loves sailing, and can schedule their time to do so, should be doing this!!!! Catalina 36's sail nice, did it at Marina Sailing for part of our Complete Sailing Course classes, for a night sail, very cool. Let's find some more members that will be RELIABLE to pony up the approx. $55 for a super day of sailing, wooooooooooo hooooooooooooo

Your organizer's refund policy for San Diego Sailing

Refunds offered if:

  • the Meetup is cancelled
  • the Meetup is rescheduled
  • you can cancel at least 3 day(s) before the Meetup

Additional notes: Once I reserve this boat I am committed to paying for the boat unless the weather is very bad. I would like to get paypal payments in advance to ensure I don't have to pay for the boat myself or turn away others that want to attend.

Payments you make go to the organizer, not to Meetup. You must make refund requests to the organizer.

Regardless of the refund policy set by the organizer, Meetup may issue refunds on an organizer's behalf if we determine that Meetup's Payment Policies have been violated.
