The theme for this second session will be: What have you got to say to the world?
Take it seriously or not according to your preference, as long as we stand up and speak, the goal is achieved...
We had a wonderful first session, there are a few comments you can read on the first Speed Public Speaking and social meetup event page!
See you there!
The purpose of Speed Public Speaking is to build up confidence and improve communication and social skills.
The format of Speed Public Speaking events follows that of speed networking or speed dating events: participants are invited to give several short, impromptu speeches to better their public speaking skills.
This group offers a warm and supportive environment in which to practice.
Each person will have several opportunities to speak each evening.
You will get feedback with bespoke exercises to practise on the spot.
There is also an opportunity to practice formal public speaking skills. A manual of guidelines to prepare more formal speeches is available, which covers professional presentations, storytelling, pleas, rants, sermons, real life stories, and lectures. This complements the more informal speed public speaking exercises. You can download the manual for free at http://jeanmarcpierson.com.
I am a story teller, a gardener, and a philosopher.
A story teller is a performing artist. I have told stories to people for more than 20 years (mostly in French, but also in English, including at my Toastmasters International club: Holborn Speakers). I have also sung in a cappella groups (baroque, renaissance, variety) and stage acted.
I am HSP, that is a Highly Sensitive Person. According to Elaine Aron (PhD), about 15% of individuals in any population - including animals - have a nervous system that is considered highly sensitive, which implies more vulnerability and also more empathy and intuition. This gives me greater capacity to help you in the highly stressful situation that is public speaking.
First timers can attend for a voluntary donation at the end of the session. After that, the cost is £15 for one session, £50 for four sessions, or £110 for ten sessions.
Don't hesitate to send me a message if you have any questions.
