About the Speakers

Mr. Avi Shavit, Kidma program Director, and head of Cyber & Homeland Security Research Activities at the Chief Scientist Office (CSO)

Based on his 25 years of experience, industry deep-rooted recognition, and personal well-established networking, Avi Shavit is the Head of Cyber and Homeland Security Research Activities at the Chief Scientist Office (CSO), Ministry Economy. At the beginning of 2006 Mr. Shavit was nominated as the Israeli expert in the EU Program Committee Security Research.

Mr. Shavit, was one of the leading experts in a special taskforce convened by the Prime Minister of Israel to formulate national plans that would place Israel among the top five countries leading the cyber field. This taskforce examined the components essential for Israel's preparedness in cyberspace, as well as analyzing the national benefit with regard to the economic, academic and national security aspects. In 2010 Mr. Shavit initiated a new Cyber research project (a consortium of 9 industrial organizations and 10 Academic researches) with a visionary approach, to develop a Multi Tiered technology of assessment, detection, analysis and understanding of computer attacks. Mr. Shavit was also the Managing Director of VULCAN Program (Video Understanding Learning Content And Notification for security purposes), a generic research consortium the consisted of 7 industrial members and 7 academic researches. Previously Mr. Shavit served as Managing Director of another research program in the field of sensors, signal processing, and data fusion for security purposes. Mr. Shavit also serves as a security expert in the European Commission. His professional skills have spanned the security, software, and communication landscape. Mr. Shavit has extensive experience in all aspects of software and communication product development, marketing, and business development. His background started in the Israeli Air Force, where he was responsible of developing C3I systems and other sophisticated solutions of computer security. Several systems received rewards, including the highest rank of Israeli Security Reward given by the Israeli President. Mr. Shavit also served as a CTO in a VC specialized in Information Technology.

To conclude this short BIO, Mr. Shavit's business knowledge together with his vast experience with due diligence (over 500 companies) provides him a unique perspective on the use of State-Of-The-Art technologies to produce affordable solutions in the Homeland security themes, particularly in the cyber arena.

Mr. Yoav Tzruya, Partner, JVP

Yoav brings strong background and industry recognition in the fields of digital media, content services, telecom value-added services and business support systems. Prior to joining JVP Yoav headed Altus Media Ltd., a venture capital consulting business, providing business, strategy and operational support for VCs and digital media and content related startups, including JVP portfolio companies. Previously, Yoav spent five years as General Manager/COO and CMO of Exent Technologies, an industry leader in the space of games on-demand, growing the business 70% Year-over-Year five years in a row. In this capacity Yoav was instrumental in building new offerings and revenue streams for industry leaders such as Verizon, Comcast, Intel, CBS, Time Warner and France Telecom.

Previously, Yoav held multiple executive positions at TeleKnowledge, an innovator in the space of business support systems. He was responsible for Product Management, Marketing and Business Development, helping define telecom value-added services and digital media strategies for the likes of Telefonica, Yahoo, Listen.com (Real Networks), Turbine Entertainment, FullAudio (AOL), StarMedia, TheStreet.com and others. Yoav further spent six years in the Israeli Air-Force, managing mission critical development projects, and is a decorated officer. Yoav is a board member of AnyClip, Apparent, AE-Squared, UIU, Correlor, Wishi and CrossReader. Yoav holds an International Executive MBA from Kellogg/Northwestern and Tel-Aviv University, as well as a M.Sc. in Computer Science (cum laude) and a B.Sc. in Mathematics (cum laude) from Tel-Aviv University.

Mr. David Solomon, CEO Solomon Capital

With over 20 years of experience, David Solomon, is one of the leading experts in the field of Corporate Finance. David, is the former Managing Partner of Cukierman & Co. Consulting Ltd, the founder and the CEO of B-PLAN, 4HIGHTECH [Investment Bank], and Micromedic Technologies [Listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange]. Mr. Solomon has worked with high profile clients in the global market such as IBM, Scitex, Bezeq, Bank Discount, Bank Hapoalim, Banl Leumi, Israel Airospace Industries [IAI], QUALCOMN, Dor Energy, RAPAK and others.

Mr. Solomon lectures in Courses in academic and other institutes. David is the author of various books including: "From Seed to IPO", "Business Planning in the Post Bubble Era", and "Biomedical - from Research to Market, The Business Challenge". He has successfully worked with dozens of emerging companies and is accredited with over a hundred winning business plans.


Mr. Yair Amit, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Skycure

Yair Amit, CTO and co-founder of Skycure, the research and development efforts of the company. The findings of his work were covered by The New York Times, Forbes, Washington Post, The Next Web and many other media outlets and presented in conferences around the world, including OWASP, RSA, INNOVATE and IMPACT. Before founding Skycure, Amit managed the Application Security & Research Group at IBM, which he joined as part of the Watchfire acquisition. In his role, he led the research and implementation of IBM’s application security next-generation technology. He graduated summa cum laude from Tel Aviv University with a bachelor’s degree in bio-informatics.
