Spirit of Wisdom Community was founded in August 2011 on Chicago’s south side in the Beverly/Morgan Park area, and is part of the Monasteries of the Heart movement, an outreach of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Pennsylvania.

Spirit of Wisdom is rooted in the Benedictine spiritual tradition; is interdenominational, and its primary mission is the cultivation, teaching, and practice of Benedictine values and priorities.

 
 It is a non-resident contemporary community for individuals called to live a deeply God-centered way of life in the heart of the city. The founder and pastoral leader, Rev Fred Mason, oversees the new urban monastery. Rev Fred also facilitates a spiritual formation program, and provides individual spiritual guidance.
