***PLEASE NOTE: THIS MONTH'S CIRCLE IS HELD ON THE SECOND TUESDAY DUE TO THE COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND RELAXATION RETREAT EVENT. NOVEMBER'S DRUM CIRCLE WILL RETURN BACK TO THE SECOND MONDAY SCHEDULE....
Spiritual Drum Circles bring people from all backgrounds, ages, and experiences together through the power of the drum.
What are Spiritual Drum Circles? They are a gathering at which people use hand drums from many cultures and various percussion elements and play together in unity and regardless of our differences, backgrounds, or experiences. No previous musical experience required-beginners will be taught the basics of hand drumming or using instruments and all are welcome to join in.
In the circle we learn from each other and the music we make transcends differences and negative labels of age, ethnicity, gender and ability. The unity of the drum circle is also spiritual, healing and therapeutic. The energy waves that are generated by the drum (and other instruments) surround us with healing vibrations-breaking up stagnant or stuck energy and releasing it, which allows pain, fatigue, irritability, anger, sadness, depression, etc to diminish or disappear entirely. We can also send forth these healing energies to others not present at the drum circle to facilitate the healing of family, friends, loved ones, pets, etc.
The presence of others and the connection that is experienced together within the circle is also therapeutic, soothing, and healing. We are reminded that it is not “me” who is in the circle, it is “we”. Spiritual drum circles are places where we explore possibilities. As we create music together we experience feelings of accomplishment for ourselves while contributing to something bigger than ourselves. This circle becomes a community, where all participants are equal and matter. We all have our “voice” and can express them through the music, dance, or just being present and sharing in the experience.
Lynne will help guide the circle, and encourage participants in trying different rhythms, dancing, singing, etc. There is no obligation to doing this however, you can simply come and enjoy the event-especially if you have any physical, spiritual, or emotional issues as the power of the circle promotes healing.
