Gary Johnson gets 24% in our poll - should we do another?

For someone being ignored by the media, 24% isn't bad.  We need to get the word out so more people know who he is.

Gary Johnson gets 24% in our poll - should we do another?

Dear Libertarian:

We just conducted a nationwide poll using well-known polling firm Pulse Opinion Research, and Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson got 24%.
View the poll results.

This poll was similar to the one we did a couple of weeks ago.

Both polls were two-way polls that only named Gary Johnson and Barack Obama. We did not mention Mitt Romney.

That's because many polling firms keep excluding Gary Johnson, and only include the Democratic and Republican candidates. We think that's not fair. And we think it's a deliberate effort to make people think that they should only consider Romney and Obama. We don't like that either.

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) requires candidates to get 15% in polls to be included in the debates.

Well, now Gary Johnson is getting over 15% in the polls we've done. We want to increase the pressure on the CPD to include Gary Johnson, or to admit that they use biased polling criteria.

We're trying to decide if we should keep doing polls like this. (For example, some people suggested we should do a poll with Mitt Romney vs. Gary Johnson.)

We raised about $1,800 towards this last poll, and it cost us about $2,500.

We'd be willing to do another poll -- Romney versus Johnson -- if we can raise another $1,700 towards it.

If you'd like to help us do another poll, please contribute and write "poll" in the comment box.

These polls use automated phone calls, so they are relatively inexpensive. Some people have suggested that we do a live poll, which would be much more expensive. We could probably conduct a live poll with a firm like IBOPE-Zogby for around $6,000-$10,000.

You might be surprised to learn, not all polling companies will accept our poll. For example, Gallup and Rasmussen do not accept paid public opinion polls, and SurveyUSA and Public Policy Polling both refused to conduct our poll!

Please, forward this message to your Libertarian friends and post it on Facebook and Twitter. Send people to this address:  http://bit.ly/NDAQT1

Just like last time, we'll post updates on how much we've raised on the LASPAC homepage.

If we don't raise enough to run another poll, we'll return your contributions designated for the poll.

Contribute here and write "poll" in the comment box.
