Hello, fellow movie lovers! Aaron Spickelmire, assistant organizer, contacting you today to remind everyone that the Spokane International Film Festival (Spiff) is starting this Thursday, Jan. 23 and running through Saturday, Feb. 1.
Spiff is taking place at several venues this year. The bulk of the program will screen at the Magic Lantern, but a fair number of films will also show at the Bing Crosby Theater, the AMC theatre and the Garland Theater. I would encourage all of you to attend as many of these movies as possible, as they are all new to Spokane and you may not be able to see them (at least on the big screen) any other way, especially the short film programs. The full festival schedule is available on Spiff's website, www.spokanefilmfestival.org, or you can grab a program at any of the screening venues.
No Meetups are planned during the festival, simply because there are too many good films over the entire 10 day period and we want you to experience as many as possible. We will try to resume our (semi) regular Meetup schedule after the festival, though the Olympics might get in the way of things during February. Definitely by March, though, we will continue seeing movies--at the Magic Lantern or AMC--and getting together afterwards.
Thanks for your time today, and if you go we hope you enjoy all that Spiff has to offer this year.
Update 1-22: I should have clarified this in my previous message--the film at AMC on Thursday is not an official meetup. I was just making an overall announcement about Spiff so that any of you who wanted to attend the movies would know about them. As for the opening film on Thursday, I will be unable to come because I'm working that night. I'm planning on seeing as many of the films as possible given my work schedule, however.
For those of you who are going to the AMC on Thursday, I hope you all have a good time and enjoy the party afterwards.
