Rocky River Reservation - Emerald Necklace Marina to Berea and Back!

Hello!

This is a Saturday afternoon ride along the Metropark's Rocky River Reservation; starting at the Marina and heading south for about 13-miles to Bagley Road in Berea. If the group wants, we can stop at a nice Mexican Restraurant on Bagley or Sweet Mango's for Thai cruisine; then head back.

Let's meet up at around 2-ish and hit the trail by 2:30 pm. This is an approximately 26 mile ride round-trip. If we pace ourselves at around 13 mph on the path, then we should be done in about 3 hours with the breaks and eating.

I recommend helmets; however this is not a sponsered event and in the end it is your choice.

Bring plenty of water and enthusiasm! This is nice section of the Metroparks through the woods with some hills and nice bike path.  This section of the park is wooded; so plenty of shade for a nice cool ride!

Thanks and looking forward to ride with y'all!

Tom

Hi Y'all... we are all set for our ride on Saturday! It looks like it will be sunny and a little cooler; mid 60's. You may want to add a layer - not too much as we will get warmer as we ride. We will meet at around 2:00ish at the pavilion on the west-side of Emerald Necklace Marina and hit the trail by 2:30 pm. We will be biking the paved "all purpose trail". We can stop along Bagley at the half-way point for lunch/snack if the group wants. See you soon!

I am new to the group, and ride a mountain which I haven't changed the rubber on yet. I have only been averaging 9/10 mph on my rides. I don't want to hold anyone up. Can't aford a road yet. If I join a ride quoted at 13mph, will I ruin the ride for others?

Would you recommend Hybrid or Road ?

    • Thomas

Hi Wendy...glad you are joining us! The bike path is all paved; either hybrid or road bike would be fine. I haven't decided which one myself :)

The APT in Rocky River is quite rough in several spots, and has standing water in many places after a storm. I've avoided the trail and used the road... even on a recent Metroparks sponsored ride.

Love Sweet Mango's (a banana dessert they have is the bomb!)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
