Eastside Ride Into Tremont

We'll be starting at Inner City Yacht Club and heading into Tremont along the lake. We'll weave through downtown & end at Grumpy's Cafe. (( http://grumpys-cafe.com/ ))

This is a beginner friendly ride going about 10-12 mph. There are some hills but not too many.

We'll meet at the parking lot NEXT to Inner City Yacht Club just off of MLK Blvd.

Worked out to be a perfect night for a ride with great company. Special thanks to Brian for coming through when my chain broke with a fix.

I probably won't come tonight, since my bike light sucks. I thought the new one I ordered would be here by now, but it isn't :-\

We'll be watching the weather today. I will cancel by 5pm if it looks like it's another storm.

    June 26, 2013

    • Brian

FYI - Last night's ride was close to cancelling... and only seven riders showed up. The major storm cells had passed by 5 pm, and we had clear skies for the majority of the ride. We had a drizzle towards the end of the ride, and the last riders did get caught in the rain, but all in all it was a great ride with great friends!

You're lucky it wasn't on the east side, All h**l broke loose starting at about 6:30!!

I would LOVE to attend this ride, though I am having a very hard time getting my bike rack hooked up to my trunk properly.....I only did it once about a year or so ago and I don't have the instruction booklet at hand....so many hooks and straps.....what goes where???? I'm afraid I will be driving on the freeway and my bike will fall off!!! OMG!!!

    June 26, 2013

    • Mark L

and if that does not work if you can get the bike into your trunk (after taking the wheels off) and bring the rack as well, maybe someone can help put it on. By the way, if you have the manufacturer and model of the rack you maybe able to find the manual for it on line.

The call of housecleaning and impending visit of guests (and because I want to bike tomorrow) beckons, I'm going to cancel. I'd love to try this ride another time, though. Thanks.

That is great Moses as this is a really great area and the view is awesome with the lake and downtown area.

Pencil me in! If I get out of work on time (and can figure out exactly where we're meeting), i'll be there.

    1 · June 25, 2013

    • Brian

Follow the map - we're meeting in the parking lot on the north west corner of East 72nd and I-90.

      June 25, 2013

  • Valarie

Please have bike lights!!! It'll probably get dark on our way back!

    1 · June 25, 2013

Valarie, just to be clear, we are not meeting at Gordan Park itself, which is south of 90, but in the parking lots opposite the park on the north side of 90, right off of N. Marginal (which means that the answer to Del's question below is moot since we will not need to use the bridge).

By the way, I notice the route takes us over the Carter Road Lift Bridge. I think it was closed Friday for repairs. You may want to somehow check to see if its open Wed (or bring an alternative way to get across the river).

    • Brian

Re: Carter Road Bridge. If the bridge is indeed closed, we can detour south on Columbus Road, cross the Columbus Road Bridge, turn left onto Carter Road and be back on course.

      1 · June 24, 2013

    • Valarie

Yes! Not Gordon Park but the parking lot off of N. Marginal by the Inner City Yacht Club.

Is the pedestrian/bike bridge between Gordan Park and North Marginal open? It was closed for awhile due to damage from the Sandy storm...

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
