Pittsburgh To Dc Bike Ride Meeting

Any of those interested in doing an epic ride, we will be having our first meeting to discuss the logistics of it. We will be heading to a place afterwards for food. If anyone could bring their laptops, that would be great too.

p.s. 2 Any way of combining the two conversations we seem to be having about this trip? I think one was started somewhere by Val and Anna. Want to keep everyone in the loop. Could we start a private Facebook page or something?

Actually there are now 3 discussion threads, two meeting post, this one and the one the 8th, and two proposed events, for a grand total of 7 total things on this site for the one proposed ride.

p.s. Although it's nice to ride in pairs to keep each other company a long distance traveler I ran into said that at times it is best to ride solo since after 6 days people can get on each others nerves. Food for thought.

I heard of four people that did the trip. 3 rode at a time and the fourth drove the sag vehicle ahead then rode back to meet the group, then the four stop at the sag to set up camp (or hotel). Not bad idea.

Cleared a path out of the driveway, but concerned about the roads. When do we plan to reschedule the next meeting. I do like the thought of having google meeting so that everyone can have links and info close at hand.

Since this is still up in the air, I have over 30 miles to travel to get to this and and I do not have any ways to get updates on events other then a desktop/laptop at home, I will not make it. Update us on what happens.

Ok the message has changed for the phone service at the library. I am going to go there anyway. If you live close come on by.. if you live far, dont risk it. If the library is closed, we will just go to panera. No big deal.

Sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to make it. I won't get done with bowling until 2 and with the weather it will probably take an hour to get to Berea. Please keep me posted on the details.

I'm know the first part of the trail from Pittsburgh to Connelsville, if anyone has any questions.

    January 19, 2014

    • eric b.

      Is it tough?

      January 21, 2014

    • Joyce W.

I rode to Connellsville by myself once and there was a long lonely stretch of woods but that's no problem with a group. The trail itself is very slightly uphill, but not difficult. The surface varies from pavement, to crushed stone to packed dirt. It is mostly shaded and follows the Yough River.

Although Adventure Cycling does not have a map for this particular route, they did offer these sites for our review.
