Spokes and Spaghetti

The Spaghetti Warehouse is a place my friends in the Spin Off Cycling Group frequent.

In 1972, the first Spaghetti Warehouse opened in the old warehouse district of downtown Dallas. Victor Petta Jr. created hearty, made from scratch favorites by combining recipes handed down through generations of the Petta family with American abundance. Chef Victor also invented our patented system for cooking pasta to create perfect al dente pasta every time. Our commitment to quality has seen the Spaghetti Warehouse grow to more than 16 restaurants in 7 states - and we're still growing. - See more at: http://www.meatballs.com/aboutus/about_history.html#sthash.tqFgycoD.dpuf

I figured we could give it a try. A majority of us will be starting at Peninsula at the Lock 29 Trail Head. A few of us will want a longer ride and may start at Canal Center Visitors Center. The riding surface is crushed limestone. We will be riding at a social pace, so noone will be left behind. We will be departing at 600 Sharp. It might get dark on the return trip, so a light is required.

You can check out the menu here..http://www.meatballs.com/menu/submain.html

For those who would like a shorter ride, 7 miles one way, we can always meet you at botzum Trail Head at 645.

Please State where you would like to depart.... Canal Center 430 departure

Peninsula 600 departure... Or Botzum[masked] departure..

Eric, I hope you made to work on time after getting home after 1 am. Who has the pictures from last night. I didn't see them. I was too busy fighting with my bike rack and lock. Can you post them? I had a blast on my first ride with this group. Ed, you were a genius with the temporary fix of my bike rack!!! See ya all soon again.....

Thanks to those of you who expressed concern about my dad. Turns out he has a seizure, not a stroke. That means he will recover more of his faculties sooner, but he will most likely still be transferred to a nursing home.

As much as I detest the whole idea, it's the right, safe, choice. He's been in assisted living for two years.

I think I have reconsidered starting from the Canal Center. Per my Towpath Companion it is 26 miles each way from there to the Howe House , which is close to the Spaghetti Warehouse (for comparison it is 14.2 from Peninsula and 7.5 from Botzum). Sundown is around 8:30 now which means we may likely be starting our return ride around sundown. If I am going to get a longer ride in I think what I am going to do is start at Pen. around 3:20ish, go to the Canal Center and meet with anyone starting there, then return to Peninsula to meet up with whoever is starting at the regular time there. That will give us a roughly 50 mile ride broken into 4 roughly equal segments, 3 before dinner and 1 after. And I will not miss my bed time doing it.

Slight change. At least 2 of us are starting at Botzum, north to Canal Center to meet up with Heidi and any others, then back south.

PS, we will start form Botzum at 3.

According to the CVNP web site, "Towpath Trail from Ira Road to Botzum [is] closed". The Tow Path Companion Map book says this is only 1.9 miles. Is there a reasonable detour for this short distance? Is the road still open?

    May 29

    • Mark L

Per the map in the Towpath Companion the road is next to the Towpath through this stretch and my recollection is that it is a relatively flat stretch. I have seen no reports of road closings.

It appears as of today that the Towpath is not open south of Peninsula all the way to Akron because of storms. Will it be by the weekend?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
