Volleyball For Fun (Recreational). "Please RSVP if you intend to come."

  • Apr 25, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Friday night volleyball is posted for those who have been playing at PMCC for  while. New player? please be patient, we will soon start playing outdoors. RSVP is required to attend and RSVP early. Please do not wait till last minute to make changes to your RSVP.

Facility charges $7.00 per person.

You come, take ownership and play. We meet/catch up with friends during breaks. Organizers listed here are helpers who post the event and help answer any questions you new members may have. Do not expect them to run the event. At court we expect everyone to step up and help make this a fun event for each other.

New to SportsNFun? It is pick up, not league. You must be open to play with varied skill levels and rotate in/sit out as required. If you have played before and if you have basic skills, then you'll probably fit in okay with a willingness to advance.

Even after many people left more continued to come as the night went on and we still had teams with 9 players at the end of the night.

I know this topic has come up in the past and understand PMCC can't turn away their own members, and since it's open to the public the meetup group can only limit the number of members who RSVP in time, but cannot turn away non group members from the community who show up.

However, this group brings in a steady source of revenue by filling the courts on Friday nights when maybe only a few community members would show up, so it seems PMCC management could be convinced that it's in their best interest to find a way to restrict the number of non-PMCC members on nights like last Friday or risk losing revenue to other venues that are becoming available.

It could be something as simple as counting people as they get a wrist band. Then rather than continuing to take money from anyone who walks in the door, restrict the number of volleyball players to 36.

Last week, before I paid they told me it was crowded and I could take a look first before deciding. More than fair imo

That's good to know WC. And my bad on the math. Good catch Sylvia and Agata. PMCC management has stated they don't think 2 subs on a team is unreasonable, but that would be 32, not 36.

Who knows why people just show up that don't RSVP.
When that happens like last week it's very disappointing for everybody since it takes most of the
fun out of it. There's only 2 courts. What can PMCC really do to prevent how many people show up?

Like us hope the 10 additional ppl are those who came from KOP event that got cancelled last minute. If this happens again this week, please let us know, we will print out RSVP list and bring.

Unfortunately few of us had to leave mid-game, because of 10-15 additional people that showed up. It's really hard to play with 9 ppl on a team..
