I really like whimsical, clever, and unusual themes and mechanics. I am terrible at auction/bidding games because I will bid waaaaaaay too much in order to win auctions, which usually leads to me losing the entire game. I love crayon rail, Uwe Rosenberg games, Survive, Carcassonne, dexterity games, a lot really. Not so much into war or excessive fantasy themes. I have my students design strategy games, so I'm always looking for games I can buy and have my students play for "research" purposes, of course. :) We have been asked by a publisher to create an expansion to an existing game, so we're real game designers now too, hopefully :) I'm glad I get to be an organizer because when I started playing games, I knew NONE of the games that people were bringing to meetups. After a lot of time learning and being the beginner, I get to help others get into board gaming, demystify some of the more confusing aspects, and help others love it as much as I do.
I'm bad and that's good. I will never be good and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.
best thing ever
