Crowdfunding Your Game: Lessons Learned From Kickstarter

The topic of this meetup has changed a bit and been pushed back by a day to group it together with a previously planned IGDA Kickstarter panel. This event is open to everyone and for sure not to be missed!

_________________

Learn from the experience of four game developers who have each utilized Kickstarter as a means of funding. Hear glowing success stories, thoughtful retrospectives on failed campaigns, and all the lessons learned during the entire campaign process. The event will be in panel format, so come prepared with questions, as we'll open up to the audience for thoughts, feedback, and prompts to the panelists.

Sponsored by IGDA STL, Lab 1500, and the St. Louis Game Developer's Meetup Group

I wish I had known that if I arrived 10 minutes late I would not be allowed in due to 'filming in progress'. I would have saved myself a long drive in the rain.

I think there's an arrow on the sign that should point you around the building.

Was this going to be the normal meetup for November? If not, is there something planned? Cause I don't see it.

Also, I may have something to show off, so is there a tv or something in the room that we'll be in that I can show off with?

I was thinking that this would replace the normal meetup for November and we'd just pick up again in December. If anyone wants to do one between now and then though I'm all for it!

      Sorry for the late response.

BTW, Simutronics just started a Kickstarter too, for our new games Dragons of Elanthia! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/simutronics/dragons-of-elanthia

Just as a reminder, this meetup was originally scheduled for tonight (Monday) at Simutronics, but was merged with an IGDA event, and has therefore been CHANGED to Tuesday at Lab 1500. Please make sure you're showing up at the right place and date: Tuesday the 29th, at Lab 1500. :)

Sorry, with the new date, I will not be able to attend. There should be others from Simutronics there though!

If anyone wants to hear me babble on some more, I can go into some details about the success and failure of the Aikonia Comic Kickstarter and things that I learned from it.
Not directly game-related, but might be helpful.
    Here's the campaign: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andrewdavid/aikonia-comic-printing-chapter-one
It was technically successful, but there were lots of problems after it ended that I can talk about.
