Game Mixer / Showcase

I'd love to see us try to have a game industry mixer / showcase event that we could invite the local game companies to be part of and maybe even sponsor the event. I know some of us have made some games, and some of us are working on some in addition to the Meetup Rock game. Maybe we can plan this in advance for next year and give some of us deadlines for finishing some of our indie projects to show at the event!

Wow! What a great event! It was good to see the polish that went into the games that were created during the Global Game Jam. Great job to those who helped organize the event and much thanks to those who showed up to support.

I had an amazing time! The turnout was great, and I was genuinely surprised at the number of games and extreme amount of diversity on display. It's a great time to be a game developer in St. Louis!

This was a fantastic event! I met a ton of people and got great feedback on my games. Good times.

Stuff came up and my brother won't be able to make it. I'm packing up and leaving now.

The venue will be set up prior to 5:00PM, if you'd like to show up half an hour early to set up equipment that would be fine. If you show up much before 4:30 I can't promise your tables will be ready.

I'm going to be late, so it doesn't make sense for me to take up a table. However, are you still planning to have a projector running with screenshots/videos of games? If so, could I send you something for that?

What time can we be there to start setting up anyway? (Would be useful to have like an hour or so to set up)

Hi Randy, et el - Today is the absolute last day to get your request in for a table, we have quite a few now so it should be a good time! Send me an e-mail with your name, company details, and what you're bringing. We'll have tables and outlets, but it's BYOC/Monitor/TV.

O-o Crap... Forgot to request a table... O-o (didn't get email reminders on this... something about my email bounced back to meetup.com so they didn't send any more O_o)

Well, if I can have a table or whatever, let me know. (I don't need much, I'll just be showing some of my scripts that are for sale, and maybe some proof of concepts I did for Unity, so not much at all, but still.)

Let me know either way so I know.

I can do a flyer unless someone else volunteers. I'll try to get it in the RFT as well, and we should spam FB/Twitter. Anyway, back to that flyer, does an actual artist feel up for doing one this week?

Awesome! We better get to promoting it! Uhh, any suggestions? Fliers, etc?

Oops, nevermind, venue decided for us. Anyway, we have a set time/date/location!

  • Daniel E.

Ok everyone, I have the venue I'd like to use pinned down. Now we need to talk dates. My top 2 contenders are April 25th and April 28th. Do any of you have any strong preferences before I lock in a date this week?

I'm thinking we'll want to do this in Late April. Any luck on finding a place? I think we need to pick some place soon and just go with it. I want to make sure we actually promote this to some of the other groups around town.

The UStream sub-page is not working so well right now, but you can get the stream from http://www.ustream.tv/channel/saint-louis-game-dev-meetup

Thanks for the feedback Randy but I want to keep this event social first and foremost, and I'd like all the attention to games at the event to be paid to games that members of our group or the community have worked hard to produce. Not trying to make this huge really, just full of the right people who matter. ;)

Having something like a BYOC game tournament may bring in more people and sponsers. I know that Intel and MSI sponser a lot of game tournaments. If you get the word out enough for it, it could be a fairly large event. (Just my 2cents)

Ah, looks like it actually did parse the link, it just took some time. No excuse not to click on it now!

Hi all, here is the link to a Google document to help us plan this meetup. Comments don't give pretty links, so copy & paste:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jrZ7Vd0rhtiQwer8T861IitLGLUbISyA-WhW-hVeMWo/edit?hl=en&authkey=CODu0PwN

Please edit the document and put in any possible venues, sponsors and also add any questions you have or other data you think is needed or relevant. We can go over it at the early March meetup.
