Wonderful scenery along the river with the snow, skelton trees, and bluffs. Got some great views of eagles on drive there & back. Glad that we were able to visit and have lunch at the lodge. I really enjoyed the day and appreciate Terry organizing this event.

Extreme weather no problem; extreme lack of interest is the issue. I went on one last year when only two showed up and it was a drag.

    February 15, 2014

  • Don

Wind chill of 8 degrees at starting time.

    February 15, 2014

Too cold! Wind chill in single digits!

I need a good hike, but probably won't do all five miles; I will accept car-poolers from Grace Church at 8:45-9 a.m., but not really looking for any. Contact by e-mail.

Arrrrgghhh !! Regret that I have a family issue that came up so will have to bow out too.

Meet at the Pere Marquette Visitors Center to the left of the Pere Marquette Lodge.

    February 11, 2014

Attention all car poolers in the Saint Charles area. It is a pretty good drive to the hike site, so I am willing to drive and have room for 4 others.

As mentioned before I live near the Page bridge commuter lot but can be flexible to meet other places ...... All interested Saint Charlesians can call me to work things out: [masked]

  • Bob

This is a maybe since I live in Illinois. Where will we meet in the park?

    February 11, 2014

  • Judi Ruth M.

Well, we could designate a meeting spot in St. Charles somewhere and a time to meet and then have all those wanting to carpool from St. Charles meet there beforehand.

    February 7, 2014

    • shae

St Charles folks that are wanting to carpool- where is going to be a good place for you all to meet? Looks like you'll take 70 to 270. There's at least 3 who said they'd like to ride share.

      February 10, 2014

  • Debbie

Little far for me to go also.

    February 9, 2014

  • Richard B.

That location is 3hours away from me, too far to drive while gas is the high price it is

    February 9, 2014

  • BILL W.

I will probably walk the level area along the great river road and then meet you for lunch. When those steep trails are wet and/or snow covered; they are too dangerous for me. Bill W.

OK, if I've got this straight, we have some St. Charles/St. peters people who want to carpool, sooo what's our next step........organization-wise??? No one should put their phone no., etc., so what's the next step in riding together? Don' want to miss this fun activity!!!!!

      February 2, 2014

Ummmm,if this starts at Pere Marquette St. Park, my google map indicates it will take me almost 2 hrs. to get there. I've gotta give this some consideration.

    January 30, 2014

    • shae

Im surprised Google maps says will take that long. If the ferries are operating, you could cut some miles that way, but the river has been frozen and they were shut down some. Looking at map, have to go east to get to Clark bridge, then back west along river to get to park. It really is a nice scenic drive. Did your estimate come from the above link on event page? If so, I suggest trying separate google search. Sometimes meetup site messes up. A quick search gave me 1hr15min from 40/k. Hope that helps.

I can't make it:( But the drive down the river road would be SO worth the trip! I love this Lodge & state park.

Other plans. Can't make it. You should have good chance of seeing eagles in the area still.
