The restaurant is housed in the historic Manhattan Casino building that has hosted Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and B.B. King.
Back in 1962, Sylvia Woods opened her restaurant in Harlem; and crowds continue to flock there 51 years later.
Executive Chef Joel Shedrick spent weeks training in Harlem and says the St. Pete Sylvia's has the same set of standards.
"Southern fried chicken, collard greens, candied yams, homemade potato salad. All of this is homemade with homemade ingredients," said Shedrick.
