Gun n Run Challenge: Rule of Thirds

Gun n Run for December: The Rule of Thirds

Unlike the last contest that focused on the subject, namely "Toys", this contest will focus on composition. The rule of thirds is a long standing element of composition in painting, photography, and many other forms of visual art. So our challenge is to use the rule of thirds in a photograph. The subject is completely up to you as long as it is within the groups overall rules.
Learn about the "Rule of Thirds" here from the school of digital photography:
http://digital-photography-school.com/rule-of-thirds
One thing to remember don't just slap the rule of thirds on every photo! Sometimes it doesn't apply at all. Use it where it will enhance your composition.

DA PRIZE..
The 12" 2-in-1 Hollow Collapsible Reflector is versatile in the field and in the studio, providing shadow-lightening detail in your subject, using available, or studio lighting. This Reflector is suitable for head-shots, and small still-life setups. It folds down to 1/3 its open size, and comes with a storage sleeve. Silver increases the specular highlights and yields a high-contrast image. Its perfect for video, product shots and B&W photography. Gold produces a natural, golden fill that is great for sunsets, jewelry, and indoor portrait (heck no...camera, lens, flash, and stand not included!!)

DA RULES:
Photos must be taken between November 1st and December 30th. Deadline for entries, Midnight Dec. 30th EST. Photos taken before Nov. 1st,2013 or after Dec. 30th,2013 will be disqualified. This contest is open to all registered members of the St Petersburg Photography Group with the exception of myself and the judges.
RSVP not required but encouraged.

Images will be judged by, in order of importance 1) Best representation of the theme 2) Creativity 3) Composition and 4) Technical quality. The winning image may not be the “best” photo but the image that represents the theme the best. Judges decisions are final and not open for debate.

I don't know how these online "meet-ups" are supposed to work, if someone can clue me in it would make "joining in" easier, thanks; btw, have a very Merry Christmas; p.s. I build my own Christmas decorations & record images of them, I was wondering if the moderators might entertain a venue for picture presentation of members images of such

These "Challenge Meetups" are held on-line kind of like a photo scavenger hunt if you wish to enter a photo, follow the "Photos" link at the top of the page and look for the "Gun n Run Challenge" album. Just follow the challenge rules to enter a photo. As to the venue question direct the suggestion to Frank or Ford.
