Sunrise at St. Petersburg Pier

Continuing to get as much use as possible from the pier before it closes. This time I have arranged a sunrise meetup with Pier management! The days are short this time of year so it will not be so difficult to get up and meet at the pier. This day sunrise is at 7:04 AM so let's meet at the elevators at 6:45 and the guards will unlock them for us. I think being on top of the pier when the sun rises will be a rare opportunity to get pictures of the sun shining directly on the city skyline. After we finish the shoot, let's break bread together for breakfast at the Dome Grill, 561 Central Avenue.

Conditions were great, although we could have used a few clouds.

Loved it! Forgot my tripod, but after a couple years of indoor high-action basketball photography, it was nice to get outdoors and begin to see the outside world!

Just finished the "shoot" at the Pier and breakfast at Tripps Diner. I invited Nancy Clack to go with. What a great time we had. Always fun to meet fellow "shooters". We appreciated the hints and advice given by Brenda and Ford. Looking forward to the 12/8/12 shoot at the Botanical Gardens. Thanks again for including us.

Funny you should mention this, Lee! I was just thinking yesterday that the whole project would be more appealing if they would just make it into a simple pier.

In a recent poll, over 60% of the people polled said they would rather have nothing there rather than the monstrosity they want to build. At least they are supposed to be adding more fishing sites than originally planned. Unfortunately it isnt about the people that live here, rather the tourists.

I was born in St. Petersburg so I grew up with the original pier structure which was a wonderful Mediterranean building. As a teen we had dances on the second floor. It was painful seeing it torn down in the 70's and the inverted pyramid constructed in it's place. The Pier is not the same gathering place that it was prior to the current structure. I'm sorry to say I hate the new design and wish they had let us (the people) have a hand in final design.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
