Club Ride to North Boulder

  • Sep 28, 2013 · 8:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

WHEN: Club rides take place on alternating Saturdays and Sundays MOST weekends throughout the riding season, and will leave from a convenient Longmont location.

ROUTE: With limited routes available to us right now, this weeks route is a slightly shorter 36 mile loop, with an optional 10 additional miles that Pati will lead (breaking off at St. Vrain Rd. & 75th and heading north). The base loop will be a 36 Mile Loop.

WHAT: Club rides will have 2 or 3 groups. We ride as a close group, two abreast only when it is safe to do so. The Club rides are "NO DROP", we will re-group at the top of hills, and at any turns where necessary.

GROUP Abici: This group will be at a faster pace                                                    (17 to 19mph average).

GROUP Basso: This group will be at a medium/fast pace                                           (15 to 17mph average).

GROUP Cinelli: This group will be at a medium pace                                                 (13 to 15mph average).

WHO: This is a road bike ride for people who have experience riding on the road with traffic. Please only sign up if you are confident you can complete the above described ride/route (distance, pace etc).

RIDE NOTES: Rides will roll out no more than 5 minutes after the advertised start time, please arrive early and be ready to roll.

- Come prepared for mechanical breakdowns (bring spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, multi-tool).

- Be sure to bring enough water for the length of the ride, especially with warmer weather ahead of us. As a general rule, one bottle of water is good for 1 hour of riding (8oz per 20 mins of ride time).

DISCLAIMER: We try to ensure the safest cycling experience on all of our rides, but cycling does come with some risk. Our ride leaders are all volunteers, not professional guides. Each member accepts responsibility for their own conduct and safety (including the safety of your bicycle and any other equipment) during club rides. You take part in club rides entirely at your own risk.

Sorry about missing the ride today. I had a tire blow out on I-25 when I was driving to meet up this morning. Couldn't quite change it as fast as I can a bike tire. I hope everyone had a good ride.

Thanks for joining us on this brisk morning ride today - I was grateful for the nice sunshine. Our ride to Eldorado Springs next Sunday, Oct. 6th will start at 9:00 AM. And, don't forget to join us for the last outdoor spin ride, Wednesday, Oct. 2nd. If you can't make the ride, come by for a brew at Left Hand afterwards.

Laurie and I have decided to start our ride at a more civilized hour. :) (and hopefully a bit warmer!). Have a great ride all and stay warm! We'll be seeing some of you at the Tour of the Moon!

Looks like the Sun will return tomorrow for our ride :), but it will be cooler. Forecast says mid 40's to high 50's, so dress up a little more than we've been used to :).

I don't think I can stay close enough to soak up the heat.

I'll miss the ride as I have to take my youngest to get an MRI that morning.
