Spin into the Setting Sun

WHAT: The evenings have plenty of light now for the weekly WEDNESDAY 20-25 mile ride. Route information will be announced in the comments section below.

We will roll out from a convenient Longmont location. Depending on how many riders and/or ride leaders, we will ride in 2 or 3 groups:

GROUP Abici: This group will be at a faster pace                                                     (17 to 19mph average).

GROUP Basso: This group will be at a medium/fast pace                                           (15 to 17mph average).

GROUP Cinelli: This group will be at a medium pace                                                 (13 to 15mph average).

This ride is best suited for Road Bikes, and people with experience riding on the road with traffic.

Both Rides will be "NO DROP", we will try to keep everyone together, but in the event some are faster/slower, we will stop and re-group at intervals.

RIDE NOTES: Rides roll out no more than 5 minutes after advertised start time, arrive early and be ready to roll on time.

- Come prepared for mechanical breakdowns (bring spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, multi-tool).

- Be sure to bring enough water for the length of the ride, especially with warmer weather ahead of us. As a general rule, one bottle of water is good for 1 hour of riding (8oz per 20 mins of ride time).

DISCLAIMER: We try to ensure the safest cycling experience on all of our rides, but cycling does come with some risk. Our ride leaders are all volunteers, not professional guides. Each member accepts responsibility for their own conduct and safety (including the safety of your bicycle and any other equipment) during club rides. You take part in club rides entirely at your own risk.

Guys, I'm sorry. I'm going to have to skip tonite as well. Have a tenant in a rental property in Ft. Collins just call and say she's got a water leak going down into the basement. Gotta go check it out. Will be at Santa Fe Century this weekend but hope to join up again either on the 21st or for sure on the 24th.
    Be safe.

My right shifter gave up the ghost an hour ago on... a Nelson road. So, no riding for me until this gets repaired. Makes a grown woman want to cry. Looking forward to our next ride.

You guys are awesome! The thing is, I took "Miranda" to ACME bike shop in Longmont as soon as I got home - and they promissed to order parts asap. I decided to go with upgrade of the cassette while I was at it.

That's great Marija, you should be up and running again pretty quickly then, we'll see you on another ride soon!.

Going to miss the next 2 Wednesday night rides while on vacation. I'm really going to miss it, but at least there will be an extra opening for someone else. Looks like there's enough interest we may need to start an additional roll out group. You all be safe out there!

    May 12, 2014

    • Kim M.

Thanks guys. I hope to get out on time to make it.

      1 · May 12, 2014

I've left Lyons a little after 5 and made it with minutes to spare! Usually try to get out the door by 4:50 though

Marija I have an extra bike that's about the size of yours. It has "speed play" pedals if that would work for you. I can bring it tomorrow night.

    1 · May 13, 2014

    • Marija K.

Thank you for the offer Peter - I will not forget your kindness. My cycling shoes are fitted for Shimano's SPD-SL pedals, I'm affraid.

    2 · May 13, 2014

Thanks for the offer but I'm almost positive I have to work that day ;) Believe me, you are plenty challenging (and ever so patient!!) for this newbie!

Looks like the weather for Wednesday will be Sunny and clear, 55F +/-. We will head West for a change for a 23 mile loop that will take us UP Nelson road to 36 and back, map here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4693677

Is it a hilly course???? Look forward to the ride seeing todays weather sucked and caused me to be a complete slug

      May 11, 2014

    • Nick M.

Yes Nelson road is a little bit of a climb (more so than other Wed. night routes so far), but you also get a great descent back into Longmont down St. Vrain Rd ;).
