Where: Ethical Society of St. Louis

Should the Bush tax cuts be extended for the upper class?

We'll have two speakers from local political parties discuss with us the rationale for allowing the tax cuts for the wealthy expire, or why they should be renewed.

Democrat, Brian Kauling will debate Libertarian, Lloyd Sloan.

Lloyd Sloan

He graduated from Harvard in 1978, ran for Congress 1988, was a journalist and publisher in the 1990's, had a radio talk show from[masked] known as the "sloan ranger show" on WGNU 920 AM.

Brian Kauling

"I work as a Network Administrator for an accounting firm in St. Louis, but my Bachelor's degree is actually in economics. A friend started discussing politics with me during the 2000 Primaries, but I didn't really know what was going on at the time. It was the Iraq war that got me really grabbed my interest. After that I was concerned about the worsening economy as the housing bubble was growing. I have since taken interest in income inequality and it's effects."

"I started volunteering in 2008 with the Obama campaign registering voters, then as 7th Ward Captain and finally running a campaign staging location during the election that saw a couple of thousand volunteers through the doors. After the election, I served as an Obama delegate to the Missouri State Democratic Convention . In Summer 2008, I also started co-hosting the St. Louis City Chapter of Drinking Liberally. In 2009, I joined the St. Louis Young Democrats and was elected the Membership Chair this past March. I guess I would call myself a citizen activist, because I've never really tried to summarize or categorize what I've done before."
