The General Strike

Elites form when sets of people develop a common consciousness (common knowledge, mentioned in my article, "Activists as Knowledge Workers," in the Files section). General strikes, nearly the ultimate desideratum for Georges Sorel, occur when the non-elite develop this consciousness. My impression until a short time ago was that general strikes are practically unheard of and have been historically insignificant. That changed when I discovered the historical section of the website below:

As you will see if you examine this site, a general strike is called for 9/11/08.

The physical impossibility of the media account of 9/11 provides an excellent nucleus around which the crystallization of a common consciousness could occur.
