March Madness at Music Box Stairs

This hike is on rain or shine.  If it does rain, which looks very likely, we'll do a 5 mile hike around the Silver Lake Reservoir.

A note about the waitlist.  There is a limit of 40 members for almost all walks.  Anymore than that, just makes the walks too slow.

People on the waitlist will get moved up until the day before the walk.  I have found that most people have made other plans while on the waitlist, so that's why I don't move people up starting the day before the walk.

BUT, if you are still on the waitlist the day before the walk, and can make the walk, please post a comment that you can make the walk and if there is room, I'll move you up!

It's March Madness time and, yes, I'm winning Warren Buffet's $1 Billion Perfect Bracket challenge!  But, in the mean time we'll march to the famous Music Box steps from Lamill Coffee.  The steps from a Laurel and Hardy episode, where they tried to push a piano up these steps!

This is a great "then and now" video of the Music Box Steps.

This is a tough hike, 6.5 miles and 23 staircases and we'll go at a fast pace.  So, please only sign up if you're able to keep up!

Meeting Time:

Please arrive at Lamill by 10am for introductions

Walk will start promptly at 10:15 am!!

Walk will take about 2.5 hours.

Meeting Place:

LAMILL COFFEE BOUTIQUE

1636 Silver Lake Blvd

Los Angeles, CA 90026

(323)[masked]

There is free parking on West Silver Lake Blvd.- the signs say no parking after 11pm, so that doesn't apply, and other streets east and west of Silver Lake Blvd.

Paid street meter parking on Silver Lake Blvd.

Pace- Please be honest about your conditioning level!

We will walk at a fast, workout type pace.  This mean we do not stop and wait for people at the top of staircases and there will not be any rest stops.  We do not run.

You are responsible for keeping up with the pace of the group.

If you are unable to keep up with the group, you are on your own to get back to the starting point.

Reminders:

All walks should be treated like a work out.  They are not guided tours!

No crashers- Please sign up for this event.  Please do not just show up.

RSVP limits are set, because I don't want a huge group on these walks.  So, if you RSVP only for yourself, don't bring a guest.

Please keep your RSVP updated and current.  Repeated No Shows may lead to members being removed from the group.

There usually are no restrooms along these walks. Restrooms are usually only available at the starting point of the walks.

Always bring plenty of water.

Always wear running/tennis shoes. Open toed shoes are not a good idea for these stairs walks.

Any questions or concerns please email me, David.

:( I don't mind hiking in the rain but since I am here just on vacation I really don't have the right gear. So I had to change to a No. See you all on my next visit or permanent move.

This hike is on rain or shine, unless it's a downpour. We'll do a 5 mile hike around the Silver Lake Reservoir instead of the Music Box Stairs.

If you late canceled or no showed to other hikes, you will be moved to the waitlist. Sorry, there are too many people interested in this hike to put up with flakes.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
