Last Minute Pasadena Stairs Walk

Sorry for the short notice.  But, let's do a stairhike on the western most side of Pasadena.

Yes, I did check and there isn't a soccer game at the Rose Bowl, that will effect traffic!

This area is a beautiful area called La Loma and it has lots steep hills and staircases.

The first few staircases come one right after the other.

Please bring a flashlight and wear light colored clothes.

Meeting Place:

McDonalds
7331 N Figueroa St
Los Angeles, CA

Parking

Free street parking on Figueroa or on La Loma.

Meeting Time:

Please arrive to McDonald's by 6:30pm.  Walk will start promptly at 6:45pm.

Pace/Time

Moderate pace.

All walks should be considered a workout.  These are not guided tours or a stroll in the park.

You are responsible for keeping up with the group!  If you're not able to keep up with the group, you're on your own to get back to the starting point.

Walk will take 1 hour and 15 mins.

Click Route:

About 3 miles with lots of steep hills and staircases.

We are doing a different route the the one in Fleming's book.

This route is similar to Walk #1 in Charles Fleming's Secret Stairs book.  But, the route in his book does not include the first and last staircases and we don't repeat staircases on our route.

Staircases:

Sycamore Glen 60 steps up- Not in Fleming's book.

Redwood 98 steps up

Tamarac 81 steps up & 19 down

Glenullen 86 steps down

Cherry 99 steps up

Capinero 44 steps up

La Loma-Cheviotdale 54 steps up

Cheviotdale-Cherry 43 steps up

Evergreen 45 steps up- Not in Fleming's book.

629 steps total

524 steps up

105 steps down

Reminders:

No crashers- Please sign up for this event.  Please do not just show up.

RSVP limits are set, because too many people creates a bottleneck on the stairs.

Please keep your RSVP updated and current.  Repeated No Shows may lead to members being removed from the group.

If your plans have changed, please change your RSVP ASAP, so those on the waitlist can be given enough notice!

There usually are no restrooms along these walks. Restrooms are usually only available at the starting point of the walks.

Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

Always wear running/tennis shoes. Open toed shoes are not a good idea for these stairs walks.

Any questions or concerns please email me, David.  But, since I do not have a smart phone, please ask questions at least a day before the event.

Some of these staircases were truly, 'HIDDEN.' Thanks for leading us through them, David. You sure know your way around these neighborhoods. Had a great time....

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
