Sunset + Full Moon: Sunset Junction Loop #20 + Franklin Hills West #31

  • May 6, 2012 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Please note, the location has changed due to a concert at the Greek Theatre. Thanks to Leigh for noticing!

Hike/walk will start right on time. Please allow time to park, and to find restrooms if you need to. This walk will be at a workout pace of at least 3 miles per hour.

We will embark on two walks, allowing us to enjoy the sunset and the full moon. The first walk will begin about an hour before sunset. The two walks are 6/10 of a mile apart, and the meeting point is in between the two walks.

Walk #31 from the guidebook Secret Stairs is a 2.7 mile walk with 684 steps, and is rated at a 4 difficulty level on a 5 scale.

"Here's a relatively short, but demanding, East Hollywood hike, with lots of elevation change - a serious workout for the calves and quads. It includes stretches of two f the city's few officially designated walk stret, Radio Walk and Prospect Walk." Charles Fleming

Walk #20, Sunset Junction Loop is a 2 mile walk with 305 steps and is rated at a 3.5 difficulty level on a 5 scale.

"This is a short walk with steep steps, steep hills, and huge views from the mountains to the sea. It's a great workout, concluding with a rewarding plethora of coffee and dessert destinations."

We may find a place for a drink or a bite to eat after the walks.

You may want to bring a flashlight or a headlamp for when it gets dark.

Because we will be walking on roads in the dark, children are not allowed on this walk.

Text for day of concerns [masked] (Diane). Otherwise please email prior.

What a great and chill group! The stairs weren't exactly chill but they certainly were cool. Can't wait to be able to do another. Diane, thank you.

Great stair walk that I've done before and will go back and train on the stairs to stay in shape. Diane is a great leader with passion and curiosity, great group all together!!

Thanks Leigh. I have changed the location. I may try for the Griffith Park hike during the full moon in June.

Allow for traffic. The golf course is across the street from The Greek Theater and there is a concert scheduled for that evening.
