The Saturday before the Super Bowl in 2011 was when I did my first stairs walk in Fleming's Book. Since Feb 2nd is the Saturday before the 2013 Super Bowl, making it 2 years since I discovered the staircases in the LA area, let's do a stairs walk.
This is a very challenging walk and NOT FOR BEGINNERS.
Walk will start in Silver Lake and take us into Echo Park then back to Silver Lake.
Time: Please arrive at Gingergrass by 10am. Walk will start promptly at 10:15am.
2396 Glendale Blvd
Los Angeles, CA
At the corner of Glendale Blvd and Brier, just south of the Bank of America.
Free parking further up on Brier or streets like Silver Lake Blvd, Hidalgo, or McCready.
Do not park on Glendale Blvd and Brier closer to Gingergrass, unless you want to pay for metered parking.
Pace- Please be honest about your conditioning level!
Fast, workout pace. This walk isn't meant for pictures or as a social stroll. Of course you can take pictures but you need to keep up with the group.
There will be 2 breaks along the route. Otherwise we will not have any other rest breaks. We do keep a good pace.
You are responsible for keeping up with the pace of the group.
If you are unable to keep up with the group, you are on your own to get back to the starting point.
Print out the map of the route.
Route: About 8 miles. Walk should take about 3 hours.
There are some very steep stairs and hills on this route. Near the start of the route, there are three long and steep staircases all in a row.

RSVP limits are set, because I don't want a huge group on these walks. So, if you RSVP only for yourself, don't bring a guest.
Please keep your RSVP updated and current. Repeated No Shows may lead to members being removed from the group.
There usually are no restrooms along these walks. Restrooms are usually only available at the starting point of the walks.
Always bring plenty of water.
Always wear running/tennis shoes. Open toed shoes are not a good idea for these stairs walks.
