Paddle our Backyard Sunday Morning

  • Aug 12, 2012 · 8:00 AM
  • Saugatuck River

Sorry it is short notice, but looking at the weather, this is the best day of the weekend. Hope to be in the water by 8:30am. Visit the lighthouse, have second breakfast @ Cockenoe and return before the hottest part of the day @ 1pm.

I'm new to the club, and not clear on where we are meeting. I have a sea kayak and a lot of experience .

      Hi Sarah,

oops - didn't mean to post that yet!... If you open the event posting in the SKG website (make sure you're logged in) and click on the "(map)" link at the end of the address, it will open a Google Map; but the flagged location is not accurate. The flag shows you the Westport MetroNorth station; the put in is at the town boat ramp, which is on Saxon Lane/Elaine Road, directly under the I-95 overpass, on the *other* side of the Saugatuck river from the flag. Take I-95 Exit 17 and cross the river on Bridge Street. Hope you get this in time!

Several possibilities in the area (see "our sponsors" links on SKG website). Most convenient to the Saugatuck put-in would be Down Under (Westport branch), located directly across the river.

Down under only rents small sit on tops as far as I know. Call them first.

Please note this paddle is for sea touring kayaks.
