May Stammtisch on seis de Mayo

Despite having dropped the ball on putting out the announcement in a timely manner for the April Stammtisch, there was quite a turnout! Nonetheless, it's probably prudent to give you Stammtischler a little more advanced notice on upcoming Stammtische. So, looking ahead to May....

Join us on May 6th for great food, drink, Geselligkeit, Gemuetlichkeit, Gegrubenheit (ok, that's not a real word) and German conversation at the Tavern Uptown. A couple things worth mentioning:

- There is free parking 'round back! On the south side of the building, there is a paid parking lot, but there are also several spots reserved for Tavern customers. Look for the little signs that say 'For Tavern customers only' (or some similar wording).

- Unbeknownst to me, the Tavern Uptown has started a new happy hour/drink special. Until 7pm, they have 2 for 1 draught, well drinks and wine. After 7pm, it's $1 off all Colorado products. Ausgezeichnet!

Please note: the primary purpose of this Stammtisch is for German speakers of all levels to come and practice and improve their skills. This also doubles as a networking event for people looking for German and European-related connections in the business community. Bring your business cards and mingle! The German community in Colorado is relatively robust. We are here to help each other find work, get more business and gain access to new opportunities.

This Stammtisch is sponsored by the German American Chamber of Commerce - Colorado Chapter and is one of a handful of business/cultural events that the GACC offers the German community. Please check out the other things we do, such as:

The Biergarten Festival, coming up in mid-July: www.biergartenfest.com

The Denver Christkindl Market in the winter: www.denverchristkindlmarket.com

Find other activities on our website. Also, sign up to become a member of the GACC: www.gaccco.org

I look forward to seeing everyone in May!

Hi guys! I meant to respond to this earlier. There are several Stammtische (including yours, Rick) that serve higher-level German speakers. Mine caters to absolute beginners up to native speakers. I want everyone to have a place to go to practice their language skills. My group is designed in a roving/mingling format (i.e., not one long table) so that people can find a speaking partner or group that conforms to their speaking level. That way, if people are speaking too much English or if the level is too high, you can move on to someone who wants to speak more German. I look forward to seeing you at the next Stammtisch!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
