I see Costco has SUPs on sale for a reasonable price. Anyone have any thoughts on those boards? Its seems like a good deal for a starter board.

They also have life vests right now. At least the Santa Maria store does.

Marty bought his board there. I believe it was a SUP USA board and he's been happy with it. Maybe Marty will pipe in or you can message him

Just arranged with AVILA Beach Paddlesports for anyone needing to rent kayaks, they will work with you for a full day rental. Please call Emily or Vince at[masked] and tell them you are members of the meetup group to arrange.

So I'm probably going to head out to the lake and do a paddle at a different location (parkling lot directly to the left of entrance ) where it's least windy at 9:30, so if anyone wants to carpool ad paddle, altho I am taking both my kayak and SUP, then head up the hill to the festival and put down a picnic blanket... If you are interested in a paddle earlier and want to meet I'll try to find a online map.

here's a map: http://www.slocountyp... At the bottom, there is a little inlet that has parking and about 50 ft to eiter carry of wheel your vessel to the water. It's protected and a fun place to put in at. Let's paddle!

Don't forget your picnic basket, a blanket, chair, umbrella? or sun hat, etc...

The Wind DOES pick up, so I was hoping to be out there at 10am. I'm going to see about a map to pinpoint a place to meet for kayaking and SUP. Also since it's $10 per vehicle, we can possibly meet and park outside the park and carpool in (if not bringing vessel)

    The music has been updated:
    ENTERTAINMENT -'
Grab some food, pull up a chair and relax with some live music at the Vista Lago Swim Area.
11:30am – 1:00pm CUESTA RIDGE - This local band is a uniquely fresh blend of bluegrass, rock, country, gypsy, jazz and folk with a pinch of funk.
1:30pm – 3:00pm DAMON CASTILLO BAND - The band is loaded with master-musicians with diverse talent. Kristian Ducharme on keys, Jennings Jacobsen on drums, and Larry Kim on saxophone, and Damon’s amazing songwriting, vocals, and guitar playing belt out jazz, funk, rock, and soul. Their prowess comes through on every note, dynamically punctuating Damon’s soulful lyrics, at times mournful, and often larger than life.
3:30pm – 5:00pm UNFINISHED BUSINESS - Unfinished Business is a Central Coast band formed in 2003 and specializing in what is arguably the best music of all time: 1960s rock 'n' roll.

There will be sups and kayaks for trials but call central coast kayak to ask if rental is available by two local shops but I'm bringing my own. Last year the line was long during the event. Am hoping to do paddle from launch at first parking lot on left about 10 am winds pick up later, then we can picnic, listen to live music, hang out on the water in the area behind the band(s). Food was limited last year( only one catering truck) so bring a picnic!
