I'm the author of "Stand Up Paddling Flat Water to Rivers and Surf" and "Kayaking Puget Sound" by Mountaineers Books. I live in Ballard and own Salmon Bay Paddle where I teach all levels of SUP and SUP instructor certification through the PSUPA.
I began this group to build SUP community in Seattle and love to share my love of the water and paddling techniques with folks. As an instructor, there's nothing better than watching a new paddler become comfortable with SUP on their first day and improve their skills over the next few Meet Ups. SUP is easy once you've learned the basic foundation skills and tecniques to become comfortable with being on the water. Here in Ballard we have a variety of conditions to work with and learn from to improve our skills ranging from light current, freighter waves, wind waves, wind, tides, to boating traffic. I work with each student individually to make sure they have the right gear and become comfortable on the water.
It's great to see so many folks from varying backgrounds come together to share this new activity. I'm looking forward to future Meet Ups.
Hi Rob - I'm not finding any links that work to pay online for the SUP Surf Camp at Neah Bay (July 28). I'd like to pay to confirm my RSVP.
I'm RSVP'd for Mon the 30th and I'll need some gear. I probably have enough of a suit to get by but I'll need the board, paddle, PFD and leash. Can I borrow?
Thanks, Kayla [masked]
Thank you Rob for the warm welcome. My ferret does indeed SUP, and I look forward to showcasing his skills during a warm summer evening.
Hey Rob are you going out to the Lapush get together? If so do you want to share a place to stay?
Can you Teach meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
A Big ALOHA and Thanks to you Rob for all of the paddle knowledge and techniques you shared with us last evening. We now have many things to work with and practice. It couldn't have been more perfect conditions ~ Thank you for sharing your time and expertise!
Hi, Sensei... The thing is that I have a board and paddle, but that I cannot tie the board down on my car alone. My housemate always helped me (should've learned sooner), but he is not around this evening. I live on 8th Ave NW and 95th. I suppose that you are busy and that it would be totally outside your duty of the day...;however, if you happen to check my tie (I can tie, but doesn't seem secure enough) before I start driving down to Silshole, it'd be super awesome...Mobile[masked]
