Trek Episode And/Or Movie Marathon

Shall we do episodes or a couple of movies?

Same thing as last time, please only RSVP if we've met you before! I won't give you the address to my house unless one of us has met you before. If we've met you, please come! We have so much fun at these things and I had over 15 people come to my last one in June.

Please bring a folding chair if you can and a small food item only if you want to :-)

Three Cheers for The Host With The Most - CHAAAAD!!
(No Chad - that episode was NOT considered good writing.)
I haven't laughed that hard, that long, in months!
And the big black kittie-cat still scares me.
    NW Trekkies RULE!!!!! :-)

I loved the episodes and videos. Nice "scary" theme in keeping with Halloween. Great food. Great people. Who could ask for more?

I agree with Daniel! It was the perfect mix of fun and Star Trek, with Robot Chicken and Mr. Plinkett thrown in just for laughs. A good time is always to be had with this group!

So we have Daniel's corn thing he's bringing, plus cornbread right? Lisa is bringing chili. Anyone else? I'll make my fattening dip!

This was a fabulous time, watched 4 Trek shows, mostly on the Halloween theme, and mixed it with lots of Trek Comedy bits from youtube in between. I personally thought it was a perfect blend of watching shows, having a good laugh, heckling shows and bits and just overall have a great social time. Props to Chad for his excellent hospitality!

Murrianna, it's more like 100 cents. Thanks for keeping a friendly focus on things. :-)

Chili & utensils, bowls & paper products + grated cheese & chopped onion - like the picnic except minus the spouse. Also bringing 2 comfy folding chairs (the Barcalounger won't fit in the 5.6 liter v8, one-woman fossil-fuel gulper). Trash bags too.
Still voting ST II, III & IV

    Who's Bringing What?

We've just under two weeks to go so I'm thinking it might be a good time to find out who's bringing what so we can avoid duplicates. Also, might I offer the suggestion that plates and napkins also work. Or if you do want to bring something, you could go in with other people and thus we can try to avoid an over abundance of food.

    Just my two cents.

Charles, I see you haven't RSVP'ed. If you are planning on coming to the marathon, please don't forget to RSVP, as the number of people who will fit into Chad's living room is limited by the space available. We're already at 17 attendees and Chad may be posting a cut off soon.

I might pass, might rsvp at the last minute if there is still space. If y'all would like to see "Forbidden Planet" let me know and I will rent it from Movie Madness, or one of you can rent it instead, just let me know. Forbidden Planet is a "must see" for all Star Trek fans, it is where the whole Trek thing started, well actually it was all started by William Shakespeare, as you can see in Forbidden Planet :-)

  • Lisa D.

Rarely without a loudmouth opinion, I go with anything 'Star Trek'. "Forbidden Planet" is one terrific film, serving, as Charles mentioned, as an inspiration to Roddenberry. A couple of "Dr. Who" episodes plus "B5" also credit "FP". The film's director, Fred M. Wilcox, said in an interview several years after the film's release that he set out to make a futuristic film with "blood ties" to Sakespeare's last play, "The Tempest".

Yes, Star Trek is a direct extension of Shakespearean literature, linked by Forbidden Planet.

Thanks for the invite Chad. Might y'all be interested to see Forbidden Planet ? The 1956 precursor to Star Trek, first full color wide screen Cinemascope movie, featuring Robbie the robot with Lesli Nilsen and Walter Pigeon.

Chad, you definitely the Host with the Most! I always love seeing ST II, III & IV together. I have 'em. And they have the added bonus of no crying.....unlike "Into Darkness", where we get to see Pike, Kirk, faux-Khan (!) and Spock (!!!) bawl their eyes out. Maybe Bill will make chili again just for Daniel.

    2 · October 5, 2013

    • Daniel D.

I can bring the cornbread and a dessert to compliment the chili B-)
