What a fantastic Meetup! 3 CHEERS FOR ILANA!!! Thank you so much. It was a great location. And a blanket apology to all for being such a loud, obnoxious broad. Big time-out now...

I'll bring 3 or 4 Togo's large sandwiches, Pastrami and Meatball. Chips too. That'll be enough for 6-8 people, 1/2 each. And then someone can buy me a brewski!!

So are we going to order pizzas? Along with the food cart. Or should we bring our own food?

    November 15, 2013

    • Ilana L.

I am bringing a couple of cheese pizzas because...that's what I do. Lol

Essen Day?? Huh, that's interesting. In German "essen" is the infinitive meaning "to eat" and is used in reference to people eating, not animals eating (different word).
So, it's Eating Day - sounds good to me!
P.S. It's me, folks - Lisa. Changed my profile info. Verrry mysterious. ;-)

Essen is the name of the city (in Germany) where the largest board gaming convention of the year is held. Its "the" event of the year if board gaming is your hobby. http://en.wikipedia.o...

    Hi everyone,
I just joined this group yesterday, I was hoping to attend Saturdays event but my schedule at work changed. How offend do you guys get together?

    November 12, 2013

    • Ilana L.

Welcome Audreanna. We get together at least once a month. I am going to try and make the game night a monthly event once we decide on a location. This is our first time at Guardian Games.

Quick updates: Nov 16th is also "Essen Day" at Guardian. They will be demoing games that just came out in Germany but still have a few more weeks before they hit the states. This is probably why they expect it to be high traffic. There is a $25 charge for people who are playing Essen demos, so make sure you don't wander over into that area.

Ilana: Nathan will be the event co-coordinator on Saturday. I spoke with him today and let him know that you will be the contact person for our group that day.

Curiousity - does anyone know if Guardian has a full bar or beer & wine or......?? Thanks.

    November 6, 2013

    • David C J.

I believe its just beer. I've never seen or heard talk of wine on site.

      November 7, 2013

    • Ilana L.

They have beer and limited wine.

He actually has everything at a con in CA *TODAY*, so if you see anything you want, TEXT HIM ASAP with an offer. Feel free to drop my name while haggling. :)

I ate a baked potato with vegan chilli from the Castle Cauldron last night and it was DEEEElious! I think I will bring a couple cheese pizzas with me, just in case chilli is not your thing, because it is pretty much the only thing from the food cart. (There were something like 5 different kinds.)

Guardian is VERY busy that day, but they could accommodate 3 tables, probably upstairs. Good news: no charge for reserving the tables. Bad news: the only food option they offered us is Castle Cauldron food cart that will be nearby. It sounds like they might let us bring in our own food, but NOT our own drinks. (If we did bring drinks, we would be looking at an hourly rate per table.) It sounds like Guardian is only going to work if we do a BYOF or some kind of potluck. I need to reply on or before the 14th. If they are as busy as they sound, we could lose the tables to other reservations that are willing to confirm. So the sooner the better.

My next alternate might be Lucky Lab. They have a couple of rooms that can be reserved, but I don't know if there is a cost. On a Sat night, I expect they might be busy as well. I'm still open to Tualatin Shari's. If somebody lives in Beaverton, maybe reserving a meeting room at the library is an option?

Angel at Guardian Games says we can order pizza, again provided we puchase drinks on site.

      November 2, 2013

    • Ilana L.

Thanks David. Looking forward to meeting you another time.

Our last place, the Round Table Pizza now has a 2 hour time limit. So we need a different spot. How do you feel about the Space Room again? Or what about one of the games venues like Guardian Games.?

    October 30, 2013

    • Ilana L.

I usually make the reservation for 12 people.

      October 30, 2013

    • Ilana L.

      You rock David!

      October 30, 2013

  • Ilana L.

They have beer at Guardian Gsmes...

    October 30, 2013

  • David C J.

Guardian would be good as its central. If people are willing to come south, Tualatin Shari's has a large area in the back they often let groups game. Never had a problem with time limits.

Sounds great! Looking forward to meeting some folks.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
