Trek Marathon Open House AND dinner afterward?

Let's do this again! Good timing for me because it is between grad school semesters and right before I go back to work for the school year. Hopefully it won't be too hot outside that day because it heats up my house tenfold! After a full day of Trekking, we should venture somewhere for drinks and a meal. May, Daniel, Jen, and I originally thought it would be fun to venture to Saburo's Sushi 1.5 miles north in Sellwood, but they are closed for the latter half of August. So we'll have to pick some other place.

Same rules apply. Make sure we know you from somewhere! :)

Bring a chair if you want, something to snack on if you want, and let's have a great time!! Remember, you don't have to bring something to share if you don't want to. That rule worked well last time as I didn't have a bunch of leftovers afterwards. Please bring a friend if you want (Trisha, please bring Jeff if he is so inclined :) )

Please come!! I will message out my address right before the meetup.

That was fun. I've done more Trek meets in the past two months than in the past 15 years.

Another great marathon hosted by Chad! We saw several epiodes from all 5 series, mostly revolving around the Prime Directive. These included, Blink of an Eye, Devil in the Dark, Dear Doctor, Symbiosis and Captive Pursuit. We also watched a few other tidbits from youtube in between. We watched the new trailer for Axanar which looks amazing.
It's always fun meeting new people and seeing old friends and we had alot of that today as well.

Mama Gaea!! I SINCERELY hope that you will be able to come to Chad's tomorrow! I have been so looking forward to meeting you in person, so if you back out for some reason, however legitimate, I'll hunt you down. ;-)
Do you need a ride? I might be able to help with that if you do, even if you're over in Vancouver. I'm in the West Hills of Portland, down the hell off of the Sylvan exit on highway 26.

Oooooops, I meant to write "hill", not "hell, although "hell" somehow seems to work okay, too. ;-)

Yay! I'm so excited I get to go...I hardly ever have time to attend...how about I bring some veggies/fruit? Would it be ok if I bring my 16 year old as well?

    2 · August 22

    • Daniel D.

veggies and fruit are a great and your sixteen your old would be fine to come as well, I would suggest that you add a +1 to your sign up so we reflect an accurate figure there since the space is limited.

That is super, mega nice of you to bring the Horta pie, even if it looks like you can't make it. Very very generous of you. I really look forward to meeting you in person someday. Take good care.

MAY!! I'm so glad you are able to make this one! I am really looking forward to seeing you, truly! :-)!

I apologize, I have to bail on this one. I'm allergic to cats and usually it's not a big issue, I just take benedryl ahead of time. But this time I have some important meetings and a wedding next week and I cannot afford to get sick. So, just in case, I'm going to bow out of this one and play the safe card. I'm bummed about not getting to enjoy the great company, munchies, and trek. Have fun and do a vulcan salute for me! :) Laura

Sorry to hear it. Take care!

      1 · August 23

  • Lisa D.

CH ADDLES!!! I am bringing a large, portable, on wheels, room air conditioner. This will really help. Call me about the details for setting it up but it's extremely easy and we can set the temperature as low as 60 degrees if we want, blowing away on high.

    2 · August 21

  • Chad P.

My roommate is taking care of someone else's cat, so there will be a new face around the house. Jennifer, you will feel right at home!

    August 21

My weather thing says 93 degrees on Sunday. Pray, chant, focus your mind on that not happening!

Temperature has been adjusted down to 83. I can handle that!

I can come from 11:30-3:30, then have to be somewhere else at 4. Also, I will be bringing my 12 year old. My older one will be out of town and I don't want to leave the younger one alone for that long. Hope no one minds if I bring him. He is quiet and likes Star Trek.

    2 · August 21

    • Lisa D.

Hang on a minute there! You say your 12 year old is quiet? I'm sorry, but quiet is not allowed. Nope, no quiet people in this bunch, so sorry, you'll have to leave the quiet one at home. **Wink wink, nudge nudge**.

      1 · August 21

    • Lisa D.

Rebecca - I'm just horsing around. I do it all the time. So bring on what I am sure is your delightful 12 year old. I'm really truly sincerely looking forward to meeting your child. This is terrific! I just hope we don't overwhelm the poor kid!

Turns out won't be able to go after all. A meeting came up same day I need to attend. Hope to meet you all another time!

    August 15

    • Lisa D.

That's too bad, Mama G. - life happens, doesn't it? We look forward to seeing you at another event!

      August 15

  • Lisa D.

Too bad we weren't able to work in a Second Annual Star Trek Fans of the Northwest Picnic. That really was super fun last year. But, clearly, we got so many excellent Trek events going on, it more than makes up for it!
    Yaaahooooo!

    August 6

    • Murrianna

Lisa, I'd like to propose Sunday, 9/14, as a backup date. That way if arrangements for 7th can't be swung, I can make the picnic.

      1 · August 11

    • Lisa D.

We now have an Official 2nd Annual Star Trek Fans of the NorthWest Picnic Meetup scheduled for either September 7th or September 14th, both Sundays. Please refer from now on to that newly scheduled meetup. The date is listed as September 7th but that is not fixed yet. I just needed to stick in a date. So I'm all done trampling all over Chad's marathon event thread. Deepest, sincerest apologies Chad.

  • Ilana L.

This is a bit tentative. Depends on if I get buried with grading.

    August 5

    • Lisa D.

AND Murianna, you are right about the date of last year's picnic. You win! Now I have to go change my Star Trek profile blurb, sigh. Although the photograph stays.

      August 11

    • Chad P.

I prefer the 14th but can do both :-) :-)

      August 11

  • Mama G.

We've never met, but I've met Ilana. Is it ok if I come?

Did I miss the memo or is August the Official Worldwide PanGalactic Star Trek month?

    2 · August 6

there sure does seem like ALOT happening in August! Perhaps we are priming ourselves for Rose City Comic-con?
