Subject: 3rd Annual Galaxy Blood Drive - Information and Invitation So the basic blood drive details for your costumed volunteers: · The 3rd Annual Blood drive is scheduled for Saturday, December 29th. · The blood drive runs from 9am - 2:30pm, though I strongly recommend that volunteers arrive early so that they have a chance to get into costume before-hand. · I set aside dressing rooms for those that have complicated costumes or just don't want to drive/take public transportation in full regalia. · This year, unlike the previous events, I am trying to put little goodie bags together for all the costumed volunteers. T-Shirts and maybe some freebees from local merchants [as it turns out, I think I am only able to T-Shirts]. With that in mind, I am hoping that you can give me a count of participants by mid-December: December 12th is the date I gave from Steven for the Star Wars side. [That is not a guarantee though, so don't promise] · Donors that present are given ballots that they can use to dedicate their donation to the Star Wars or Star Trek milieu, and whoever collects the most votes gets a revolving trophy for that year. Star Wars won in the 1st event, Star Trek the 2nd, so it is truly up for grabs each year. · I try to set up a rotation for the volunteers at several stations throughout the building, with a built-in "break" station, so that everyone gets a chance to participate at all phases of the blood drive. The primary purpose of the drive is to increase the awareness for the need of blood at all times of year, especially during the holidays, and to do so in a fun way. We have had news crews out on site, and received a lot of great publicity from our events. We have even had interest from other parts of the country to set up something similar. So we are truly ground-breakers here in the Northwest (what's new with that, though! :) If the above sounds like something you could get into, just send me an email and let me know what your needs might be. It wouldn't be the same without Star Fleet being a part of the blood drive. Thanks, Jeff Mason
