We enjoyed ourselves so much at the last 2 plays we attended at Showtimers (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and Once Upon a Mattress), I thought this one sounded just as entertaining. Here’s the plot: “The small town of Elroy, South Carolina is thrust into the evangelical spotlight when what seems to be the image of Jesus appears on a refrigerator in a trailer park. When the National Investigator turns the appearance into front page headlines, the trailer park becomes a mecca for miracle seekers, soul searchers, and disciples with a decidedly political agenda. Town business leaders urge residents to pretend to get messages from the appliance-based apparition and the crowds multiply by fish and loaves. The protagonists undergo an evolution in their relationships with each other and are forced to come to grips with their status in the caste system of the rural South." A friend of mine saw this play in New York and said it's well-written and VERY funny!
The production begins at 8:00pm. I’d like to ask that everyone be there by 7:40pm for ticket purchasing and seating. Tickets are $12 for adults, although we were given a group discount last time. I'll post the discounted rate in the comment section when it gets closer. Please note that the RSVP deadline for this event is 3 days in advance of the show—Wednesday, December 11th.
Also, if anyone is interested, we can catch a quick dinner somewhere in the 419/Electric Rd area before the show—post a comment if you’re interested or have a restaurant suggestion. Last time we went to 419 West and that worked out well--but I'm completely open to popular vote.
