Glow for Hope 5k Walk and Run (Salem)

One of our fellow foodies, Emilia, will be guest hosting this event as I may be in Richmond. Grab your running (or walking) shoes and bright clothes, and join us at HopeTree Family Services on Friday, May 9th for a great night of fun with family and friends at the Glow For Hope 5K Run & Walk!

The Glow For Hope is a timed 5K night run and walk that will light up the streets of Salem to raise awareness and support for HopeTree. The highlight of the evening will be the Glow Party! This family-friendly event will feature music, food, great raffle prizes, face painting, a bouncy house for the kids, and tours of HopeTree's campus. We'll also offer a shorter, campus walk and set up rocking chairs for those who'd like to stay close by but still show their support for HopeTree. This is our annual community fundraiser and all proceeds from the Glow For Hope go directly toward providing vital services to people in need. Each participant receives a complimentary glow bracelet and necklace! Upon registration, you'll also get a personal fundraising page to help raise money for our cause. Every dollar counts and we challenge each runner and walker to raise enough money so together we exceed our $25,000 goal!

Why Should I Participate?
Did you know that thousands of at-risk children in Virginia experience family crisis, abuse, neglect and behavioral challenges every day, and are searching for an alternative place to live? Did you also know that more than 6,100 Virginians with an intellectual disability are on waiting lists for community-based services?

Show these children and adults in our community who need support services from nonprofits like HopeTree Family Services that they're not alone. Support HopeTree in our mission of serving at-risk children and youth, and adults with intellectual disabilities, by participating in the Glow For Hope.

Come GLOW with us and help light the way for a better, brighter future!

How Do I Get Involved?
Register as a Runner or Walker
Click the "participate" button at the top of the page. The registration fee to run the 5K race is $25. There's no cost to walk the course, but we ask that walkers raise at least $25 to receive a t-shirt. Each registered runner and walker receives a fundraising page with a default goal of $250. Recruit your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to support you with a donation to help reach your goal! Why not set the bar higher? All runners and walkers who set a goal of $300 and above will get special recognition at the event.
You can also create a group page, which is a fundraising page under a group name rather than your personal name, or lead a team of fundraisers by creating a team name and recruiting others to join you! Friday, May 9

Hey guys, if you don't feel like running or walking but want to support the event, we are also in need for volunteers. Ricardo will be a "water-guy" - let me know if you want to join him...

If anyone would like to have dinner before and then carpool, we could meet at my house.

Tks Stacey, but I need to swing by Fleet Feet and grab my bib for the Gallop 4. See you guys at 7, on the start line.

Whether you're walking or running, please visit and register as an individual participant. Running registration is $25. Walking registration is free. They would like to have an accurate headcount for the event and it takes no time at all to do.
