StarTau, Tel Aviv University Entrepreneurship Center is proud to invite you to a lecture "Building a startup: From idea to profitability ".
We will be hosting Ofer Vilenski - founder of Jungo (acquired by NDS for $107m). Ofer will take the audience along the journey from the idea of starting up a company, through all the hardships involved in starting up and managing the growth of a startup, until the exit.
Ofer Vilenski – CEO, Hola Networks Ltd.
Ofer started programming in the late 1970’s as a kid. In his teens he was a professional actor at the Haifa Municipal Theater. During his military service Ofer was a fighter pilot, discharged as a Captain. After the army Ofer graduated Cum Laude from the Computer Science department in the Technion and worked as a software engineer at Check Point Software in its early days.
Together with Derry Shribman, Ofer founded a software tools company in his basement, which went on to be a very profitable company. With the profits of that company Ofer and Derry founded Jungo Software Technologies – developing an OS for routers (like an Android for home devices). In 2005 Jungo became profitable, employing over 170 employees, mostly software engineers. A year later, Jungo was acquired by NDS for $107m.
In 2008, Ofer and Derry founded a new startup called Hola, which is attempting to create free software that will make the Internet considerably faster.
