Gabbers Conversation Group (GCG)

  • Jul 11, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This is a new group where people will have the opportunity to improve their listening and speaking skills on all levels. These topics will help you to become more comfortable speaking with native English speakers, as well as help you in school, in your career and in life.

Each topic will be held on a Thursday and will meet for 80 minutes. The topic will be introduced, broken down and explained, and then practiced for everyday life. You do not have to attend every Thursday, but the more you attend, the faster you can improve.

Classes are being kept small so everyone can have many opportunities to speak and as the teacher, I can help you each improve at a faster rate.

As this is a new, specialized group, members of the meet up who attend, will pay $35Classes can be paid for (in cash) on the day of class.

The topics will be prepared by me, Judith (Organizer). I have over 10 years of education experience and have helped many people improve their listening and speaking skills. In fact, I've helped several get into top universities in Boston and land (get) jobs with top companies in America. In turn, below are 5 topics. If these classes are successful, then I will add more.

The topics are:

1) The Top 10 Idioms for Everyday Use - June 27, 2013

2) Commonly Used Phrasal Verbs - July 11, 2013

3) Cliches & Coined Phrases - July 18, 2013

4) Present Perfect Tenses Made Easy - July 25, 2013

5) Slang & Colloquialisms

6) Who vs. (To) Whom and Which vs. That

How to Find Us

Take the Red Line to Central Square. When you exit, you will be on MA Ave. Walk towards the 4-way intersection of MA Ave and Western Ave. Take a left and walk down Western Ave (Citizen's Bank will be on your right). You will stay on the left side of the road and walk on the red brick sidewalk. You will come to a fork in the road. Bear left (Western Ave will now be on your right). Straight ahead you will see a cafe with stairs leading up to it and outdoor seating. Cross the street and walk up the stairs. The link is attached with photos, directions and what to look for.

If You Have a Sudden Change In Your Plans

I understand that sometimes life gets busy and things that we don't expect, pop up in our lives. If you think you are going to be late, please post a message on here so I know when to expect you. If for some reason, you are not able to make it, please post a message not less than 2 hours before the time we are scheduled to meet. This will help me best plan my schedule and maximize the time I am able to spend with you.

I look forward to helping you all improve your English!
