Meet at Tobacco Road

Hey everyone! I've recently been contacted by an entertainment organizer for Tobacco Road. Her name is Patrizia and she brought up the idea of using her venue to hold frequent events where musicians could meet and form bands, create new contacts and talk about music and the industry.

Although I created this group to form my own band I think this sounds like a great idea and can't wait to see where it will go. Anyone interested in finding a band or interested in meeting new people in the industry please come by and hang out.

For everyone who is coming tonight, make sure you tell the door guy that you are there to see Patrizia about the meetup so he doesn't charge you a $15 cover. :)

I am still planning on attending the meeting. Elizabeth I also play in a rock band that needs a singer. My focus for now is to be considered for Nick,s band and as a keyboard player but also want to try and network

First I welcome all who are attending, especially the second time around..
I was at the First meeting at Arlene's about a month ago which had its share of drop outs that I have yet to meet or here from so I'm just curious this second time around as 3 people have dropped out who want to be considered in the band..if you had an appt for a job interview would you bail only to ask to be considered? Now, I'm not the organizer and have yet seen results on starting a band, but, this is kind of bordering on the expected and sadly disappointing to hear. I've a few projects I'm starting and honestly would be apprehensive about someone that didn't show the first time. It leaves that thought in the back of my mind about not showing up for rehearsals..

Can't come tonight, but PLEASE CONSIDER ME if you're looking for a singer. I have a strong, loud voice, love to articulate lyrics, unafraid, confident, I can sing it all from Bob Dylan to Aretha Franklin to Tom Waits to Sade to Norah Jones and back again. I love 60's classic rock, folk, and jazz, r and b, soul, and some older/better country even. Currently, I'm on a Townes Van Zandt bent.... look him up on spotify if you don't know.

I'm 32, but have no kids or husband and work freelance/telecommute, make my own schedule with odd jobs, which means I have plenty of time for rehearsing/playing. I also have a jeep, which can help with getting the band around.

I'm still working on a demo. Been procrastinating way too long.

I think I'd do best in a classic rock band, or jazz/cabaret band, a soulful band where lyrics are written and meant to be heard (this is really important for me- no droning, no noise rock, no punk
    please)...

Don't do much songwriting but perhaps I will.

Looking forward to meeting up and just to let everyone know that I'm part of the NYC Guitar School Open Mic Meetup which will be at 251 west 30th at Studio 7 from 7:30 to 10:30 the same evening so we can choose to go there and actually sign up for free..it would be nice to meet up at an actual studio, perform and network.. That said, I and fellow associates attend a happening event at the Manhattan Blues Project Open Jam, held on Saturdays at Tammany Hall (152 Orchard St) if you're interested I can send you a updates for the Next Jam, yes it's a bar, but, you get to play if you sign up..

My feeling is this. Going to a bar to hangout and drink is better when your there for the gig..

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
