Startup Grind Memphis Hosts Kim Heathcott (Clarion Security)

Kim Heathcott, Clarion Security

Kim Heathcott is the owner/CEO of Clarion Security, a technologically based provider of security guards in the Memphis area. She started the company in April, 2010 and Clarion Security is currently one of the largest women-owned businesses in the Memphis mid-south region.
Ms. Heathcott holds an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in Economics, with a minor in Business Administration. Additionally, she earned an MBA from Southern Methodist University through its Executive MBA program as the youngest applicant ever accepted in its prestigious top-tier business executive program.

Ms. Heathcott has an 18-year financial background in corporate and asset-based lending, with an emphasis on fraud auditing and control investigations. Before founding Clarion Security, Ms. Heathcott opened a Memphis satellite stand-alone office for The CIT Group and developed more than $75 million in new business in five years with no prior name recognition in the Mid-South area before opening the office.

In June of 2013 Ms. Heathcott was named President of the Memphis Chapter of The National Association of Woman Owned Business (NAWBO). She is a board member of the supplier diversity council of MLG&W and the Greater Memphis Chamber.

In July of 2013 Ms. Heathcott was named a "Superwoman in Business" by Memphis Business Journal.

Hosted By Katie Maxwell, Memphis Chapter Director

Katie Maxwell worked in the corporate world for the past 8 years specializing in marketing, communications and public relations.  Due to a company wide restructuring her position was eliminated in early 2013.  Unsure of what she wanted to do next, Katie spent several months working with a team to start a coworking space in Memphis, TN.   In just a few months, the lease was signed, renovations completed and Cowork Memphis came on the scene.  She now serves as the Director of Community Relations at Cowork Memphis.
