Join us on September 12th to hear from Josh Coates, the CEO of Instructure and founder of Mozy. Josh began his career in distributed systems research at the University of California, Berkeley and Microsoft's Bay Area Research Center. Josh specialized in high performance and parallel disk and network I/O. In 1998 Josh graduated with a degree in Computer Science and began working at Inktomi Corporation developing network caching software. In 1999 he founded Scale Eight, which developed scalable storage software technologies. Scale Eight’s customers included Microsoft, Viacom and Fujitsu. Scale Eight closed operations in early 2003 and sold its intellectual property to Intel Corporation. After relocating to Utah, Josh founded Berkeley Data Systems (Mozy.com) in 2005. Two years later in October 2007, EMC Corp acquired Mozy for $76 million. In 2007, Josh took a volunteer position as an adjunct instructor at Brigham Young University. Josh was an early investor in Instructure and joined the board in 2008. In 2010, Josh became CEO of Instructure.

Kyle Shields - Director of Startup Grind Provo
Kyle Shields is currently pursuing a Master of Accountancy at Brigham Young University. A large portion of his time is devoted to learning the ins and outs of tax accountancy, but once the books are closed Kyle can be found working on some new entrepreneurial pursuit, or working with professors on research projects. After his studies, Kyle does business development for Ferevo, a mobile advertising startup that specializes in relevant advertising solutions.

Derek Andersen - Founder of Startup Grind
Josh will be interviewed by Startup Grind Founder Derek Andersen. Derek worked at Electronic Arts on games like The Godfather, Burnout, and Mirror's Edge. He left in 2009 to found Vaporware Labs, a company that has launched products like Startup Grind, Commonred, and Steve Young Football.
