“None of you presented in a way that investors have the right information to be interested.”
- a judge at a recent pitch event. (Ouch!)
Over the next 3 Pitch-to-Investors meetups we will:
1. Learn the key points investors need before they invest.
2. Avoid 3 sure ways to kill your chances.
3. Deliver an impactful 20 second “elevator pitch” with focus and conviction.
4. Deliver a powerful 2 minute pitch without slides.
5. Deliver a 5 minute pitch with slides, with 2 - 5 minutes for audience questions.
6. Answer investor questions with confidence like the executive you are.
Everyone pitches each session.
After 2 to 3 sessions most people will be amazed by the dramatic improvement in their presentations.
Pitch practice is for startups preparing to or actively raising money. Bring your slide deck and you will present to the group. Everyone will make presentations - and be critiqued on the hot seat. Then we will do it again -- better.
This is not for looky-loos. If you are not in a start up, ready to raise $, or in the process you won't have the credibility with the group. You must be in the game to join us.
We will send out a template for investor and notes from an angel investor on what his team looks for and why.
The presenter is Steve Austin, serial entrepreneur. Steve has successfully raised angel rounds as well as corporate investment. Currently, Steve is a co-founder of a tech startup PowerGo Inc. building traction on the way to raising $. Prior he started a temp agency online billing company and before that won the Descartes Prize for best new smart card product. Prior, Steve was a EVP, corporate officer and GM of CONVAC. Steve was the president of oldest Toastmasters groups in the area, and a recent graduate of Keiretsu Academy.
